Atheists & Agnostics

trotsky and I have plans to meet in real life and have a beer and some pizza. First time we have met after many, many years on DU.
I just wanted to give the lurking theists a heads up that there is probably weak knees and nausea in store for you on Friday evening as two pieces of the evil vortex get together and slightly open up the portal to Satan's bedroom.
Actually, I just thought it would be good to post this as something positive and fun. Also, I think it would be awesome--though highly unlikely and practically impossible--to pull off a time for all of us heathens to meet in real life. Or at least a handful or two.
Anyway, hope everyone has a good week.

(28,151 posts)I promise you all though, if I won the lottery I'd bring everyone to Traverse City for a lovely visit!
Until, that happens we will have to achieve our goals of world domination one little meet-up at a time.
Have fun!

(22,340 posts)I may be headed up in that direction and will shoot you a note if I do. Looking on a map I am only about 150 miles from you as the crow flies--that pesky Lake Michigan makes it a little farther for mere mortals, though.

(28,151 posts)Not only would I be thrilled if you made it, that would be damn impressive as well!
But, should you decide to shortern things you could grab the ferry across, it would bring you to Ludington, a couple/few hours by car. Being not much of a biker my unprofessional estimate of bike ride distance would be about 23 days. hahaha

(22,340 posts)Goodness no. But I have thought about going up to that part of Michigan to camp and do some biking for a week. I like biking in different places.

(13,029 posts)Heading up there in late August for the second time this year. God has truly blessed you by allowing you to live there...
Or at least, if there were a god, and he were inclined to bless people, and if you were one the people he were inclined to bless, he'd probably have you living there. But you're living there anyway...funny how that worked out.

You don't drink beer, do you?

Here in my Los Angeles 'hood, we'd be ordering from Pizza Man. Outstanding stuff, always made up fresh after you order.
As a bonus - the place is owned by Russians! Booga-booga, spies!
When I first had a pizza delivered by these guys, the deliveryman frowned at me and asked: "Are you a Communist?"
WTF? I thought. Told him no.
Then I remembered - part of the scenery in my lovely, Martha-Stewart-like abode is a big honking red-and-gold Communist parade banner. Lenin on one side and "Workers of the world etc." in Russian on the other. It was hanging on the wall, but to me it was literally just part of scenery and I didn't notice it much anymore.
I bought it in Berlin, shortly after the Wall came down. When the Russians were having their big Going-Out-Of-Business in Germany sale. Along with a lot of other neat Commie souveneirs. e.g., I bought the tech manual to a Russian tank radio for about US $5. The vendor said for $50 he could get me the radio itself, and for $500 he could probably get the whole tank.
Couple of weeks ago I called to order a pizza. The owner said he was going to visit family in Russia, and asked if I needed any more Communist flags.
