Powerful Christmas Eve storm to rock East Coast with high winds, severe weather and snow.
A strong cold front will bring wild weather, with the potential for power outages in parts of New England.
A powerful storm system is set to unleash hazardous weather along the East Coast on Christmas Eve, bringing strong winds, flooding and even the chance of severe weather and tornadoes to some. Snow is possible too amid the meteorological maelstrom that will bring weather whiplash to tens of millions in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, with temperatures going from the 60s to the 20s in a matter of several hours. Flood watches are up from Virginia to Vermont, where heavy rainfall will combine with rapid snow melt in some areas to yield freshwater flooding Thursday into early Christmas morning. Near the coast, the biggest threat may be from damaging winds. A high-wind watch, with the potential for gusts to 60 mph, is already up for Southern New England. Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and the nation’s capital could all see disruptive weather Thursday night into Christmas. Meanwhile, in each of these cities. there could be treacherous travel as daylight dawns on Christmas morning, due to a flash freeze and snow flurries on the weather system’s cold side.'>>> https://www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2020/12/23/christmas-eve-storm-east-coast/?
