That heavy wet snow is like walking in cement. We made it ten minutes and then spent another 20 trying to help two neighbors with stuck SUVs try to get out (one was taking an HCW spouse to work). For the uninitiated, learning to drive on ice and light snowpack is nothing like wet, heavy deep snow, 4WD or no. I-25 and Highway 287 have been closed for hours now and I suspect there are similar issues heading South to Denver.

That said, I did pull out my x-country skis and some snowshoes and hope to try them out on the wetland open space near me or the nearby Power Trail when the wind dies down. I admit to having purchased a "comfort" jar of Nutella to eat on some fresh multi-grain bread, so I need to go burn that off in the worst way.

There are some power outages (not so near me) but I keep my fingers crossed. At least the trees had not begun to leaf out.

We didn't get the 4 Feet some originally projected, but we surely will get considerably more than two feet.

Sounds like you've gotten more than we have in Lafayette. My son had to go out and shovel a place for our doggos to use for potty breaks. Fingers crossed we don't lose power.

Trees and bushes still had most of their leaves, and the snow was so heavy you could hear branches snapping all over the neighborhood. It sounded like gunfire. I took a large push broom out and used it to push up the branches I could reach so that the snow would be shaken off. I saved my trees, but ended up looking like a snowman myself, because the snow fell off the trees onto me.

And yet the HMO where I work said it is expecting everyone to show up tomorrow. At least I live close.

Typical wet spring snow; always a pain to shovel. The worst was the snow on the sidewalk. The wind had packed it down.

That was around 8pm MDT.

He said nothing about power.
