Powerful hurricane on its way to Europe: The remains hit Norway

https://www.vg.no/nyheter/utenriks/vaer-og-uvaer/kraftig-orkan-paa-vei-mot-europa-restene-treffer-norge/a/24163666/

ON WAY TO EUROPE: Ophelia has increased to category three, and is now on its way from the Azores and towards the UK and Ireland.

Coming to Norway on Tuesday

When Ophelia finally reaches Norway beyond Tuesday, it does not have much power left. Only the remains of the hurricane will be marked on the Norwegian coast.

- Then it has lost spark. It does not go inland but approaches our areas. South of the western part of the country and in the eastern part of the region, it is stiff, "said Wiberg.

It can also get wet in western Norway.

It does not have much rain with it except northern Norway.

translated via Google, if you know Norwegian, please help out

Just amazing that this is even happening. Glad that Norway will be spared, but Ireland, Scotland and western Wales and England will get hit.

but there should be a scientifically based non fiction movie about the Earth experiencing 2,000 mile wide hurricanes, wildfires the size of Alaska and blizzards dumping 5 feet of snow as the norm in the US. They should also include different locations throughout the world and what their normal weather systems would be like if increased 500%. Then follow it up with how humans would react/respond to it. That is what can happen to Earth and possibly within the next 100 years if things continue as they have been.

Ireland will get a strong gale. They sure put things differently in UK et. al.

At https://www.met.ie/ they have "Status Red" national warning of

Wind Warning for Ireland
Ex-Hurricane Ophelia is forecast to track directly over Ireland during daytime Monday. Violent and destructive gusts are forecast with all areas at risk and in particular the southwest and south in the morning, and eastern counties in the afternoon. Also heavy rain and storm surges along some coasts will result in flooding.
There is potential risk to lives.
Issued:
Sunday 15 October 2017 20:00
Valid:
Monday 16 October 2017 06:00 to Monday 16 October 2017 23:59

as well as orange and yellow for maritime.

STATUS ORANGE

Gale Warning
1. East to southeast winds will reach gale or strong gale force later tonight or early Monday on all Irish coastal waters and on the Irish Sea.

2. Storm force cyclonic variable winds will develop on all Irish coastal waters on Monday.Violent storm force 11 southerly winds veering southwest will develop on coasts from Carlingford Lough to Carnsore Point to Valentia, with hurricane force 12 winds at times early on in the day on coasts from Carnsore Point to Roches Point to Valentia.

I had to go look up the Beaufort Scale again. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beaufort_scale Force 12 is Hurricane force of 73 MPH or greater.

In the 90s I would go to South Wales for work several times a year. I'm going to look around https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/ and see what's in store for there.

Hi every body !

This is very interesting, more and more scientists are saying that global warming is changing the way hurricanes go through the ocean.
Europeans should get used to hurricanes as they are sadly enough going to be more and more likely to reach their coasts : /

Besides, whatever we do to reduce our impact on our environment, we are going to have to adapt to our new eco-system as nothing that one can do will change anything now.

This is all the more disturbing as it is only one of the climatic issues that we will have to cope with in the next decades.

I wish Al Gore got elected when it was still time to act ...

Cheers,
