Missed deadline means South Dakota Democrats must reconvene to pick nominees
South Dakota Democrats will reconvene in Sioux Falls next month to again green light their slate of constitutional office candidates nominated last month.
The Democratic Party's second convention comes after party officials waited too long to submit their list of nominees to the Secretary of State's Office. State law says parties have three days to relay their nominees to the Secretary of State after the close of their convention.
And that delay garnered a challenge from Republican Party Chair Dan Lederman, invalidating them.
Now, Democrats are set to meet on August 10 for what they say will be a brief meeting to affirm their nominees.
