Aylward, Karr Catch Coronavirus; Republican War on War on Pandemic Continues Unabated

Representatives Chris Karr (R-11/Sioux Falls) and Aaron Aylward (R-6/Harrisburg) have both tested positive for coronavirus. Both appear maskless at the Capitol in the recent photo below with their similarly mostly unmasked and carefree Republican colleagues in one-party rule:

To mark the occasion, the Senate gave final approval to extensive immunity from lawsuits related to coronavirus.

We don’t know if Aylward infected Karr, but he is helping infect our politics with more secessionist nullification measures. In addition to his cosponsorship of Senator Jessica Castleberry’s (R-34/Rapid City) Senate Bill 129, which would nullify federal gun laws on our Attorney General’s whim, Aylward tossed in the hopper House Bill 1194, under which South Dakota would ignore Presidential executive orders relating to a pandemic or other public health emergency or the regulation of natural resources, agriculture, land use, the financial sector, or guns.

Yup: among other things, the guy who just got coronavirus wants South Dakota to defy Presidential orders meant to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Welcome to the dumbest, most dangerous state in the Union.
