In prime bloom

People view cherry blossoms from rowboats on the Chidorigafuchi moat in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, on Monday. Cherry trees in central Tokyo have been the fastest to reach full bloom in the nation. The temperature exceeded 20 C at around 10 a.m. Monday, providing a springlike atmosphere. The Chiyoda cherry blossom festival, in which cherry trees by the moat are illuminated at night, will continue until Sunday.
