(2,212 posts)I'm wondering now when chocolate was introduced to Japan and how long it took for it to become popular. I haven't looked into it yet, but I think the big picture of chocolate goes: Mexico/South America --> Europe --> Asia. I think?

(41,831 posts)it makes me irritable when i have milk chocolate. I prefer Caramel, it doesn't bother me and tastes far more yummy to me.

(2,212 posts)I only recently started appreciating caramel. A friend convinced me to get it on a sundae made of butter pecan ice cream and it was heaven.
Incidentally, according to what I'm seeing online, chocolate didn't become popular in Japan until the American occupation, when GI's would share their chocolate with Japanese children. Apparently, one of the first well-known English phrases among Japanese children was, "Give me chocolate!"
