Related: About this forumNokdu Flower gets top Actor awards from SBS
This was one of the most powerful Korean historical dramas that I've ever seen. Virtually every actor in the production was worthy of an award.
Nokdu Flower[2] (Korean: 녹두꽃; RR: Nokdukkot; lit. Mung Bean Flower) is a 2019 South Korean television series starring Jo Jung-suk, Yoon Shi-yoon and Han Ye-ri. It aired from April 26 to July 13, 2019 on SBS TV.[3][4]
The series tells the story of two half-brothers from separate mothers but share the same father who both fight on opposite sides in the Battle of Ugeumchi that took place in 1894 during the Donghak Peasant Revolution.[3][4][5]

Jo Jung Suk won the best male actor in a medium length miniseries, and Han Ye Ri won the award for best female actress. They appear in this trailer.
I saw that the nielsens on this drama weren't that high. There have been more popular dramas. Perhaps the subject matter was too intense, too divisive. Not everyone likes history either. This drama about the Tonghak rebellion and the Japanese intervention had some very revealing insights into the shaping of the modern Korean character during revolutionary changes in Korean society. Those influences survived the Korean conflict and the cold war orientation that dominate western perception about Korea to this day.

(3,299 posts)2. Watching Different Dream, ( 이 몽 異夢 ) another historical drama now
It's on viki.com with English subtitles.
While I don't feel the production values and acting are as true as they could be, and the tale is "over" romanticized, the sets, costumes, and plot attempt to recreate the treacherous and deadly atmosphere of the thirties in Korea, Shanghai, and Manchuria.
Recently, the drama series Different Dream was produced in South Korea to celebrate the centennial of the March First Movement (the Korean independence movement).
"Uiyeoldan (Heroic Corps) was the most threatening organization to Japan in Korea's independence movement history. Along with its leader Kim Won-bong, many other activists' lives have been reflected in the story." *
