옷소매 붉은 끝동 (The Red Sleeve)

MV] 벤 (BEN) - Starlight Heart ( 잠들지 않는 별 ) [ 옷소매 붉은 끝동 (The Red Sleeve ) OST Part.2]

This is one of the songs on the The Red Sleeve soundtrack. This video it has some scenes from the Red Sleeve that suggest the nature of the drama. It's a well done series depicting court life in the Chosun dynasty period. It's a variation on the Yi San story which focuses on the crown prince's personal relationship with court lady Seong Deok-im. I don't know how accurate the story is. One article in an Joongang review of recent Korean historical dramas suggested it wasn't. The characters are derived from history. It's a story about personal relationships amid the stifling customs of the royal palace. The costumes, sets, photography, etc. are stunning. The acting is excellent. I think the drama will have a wide audience if netflix or one of the other major redistributors picks it up. Right now it available only on viki.com. There is probably a paywall.

Don't watch bootlegged episodes on youtube if you don't want spoilers.

Lee Jun-ho as Yi San, later King Jeongjo: the arrogant and perfectionist grandson of King Yeongjo. He constantly strives to become a benevolent king, but his father's death has left an emotional trauma in his heart.[4]

Lee Se-young as Seong Deok-im, later Royal Noble Consort Uibin Seong: a court lady who wants to live the life of her choice, rather than one of the numerous court ladies called the king's women.[7]

Kang Hoon [ko] as Hong Deok-ro: the crown prince's teacher who hides a cold personality beneath his warm-hearted appearance.[3][8]

Wikipedia has a graph showing that domestic viewership started at one million viewers on SBS for episode one and rose consistently to end at about 3.7 viewers for the final episode. It's a very engaging story.
