Move Over 'Berniebros': A Wave of Young Women Is Boosting Bernie Sanders

The media of late has been banging on the drum of the "Berniebro." Don't let that man-bun fool you, America: The Berniebro is an unrepentant mansplainer, who backs Sanders with a level of devotion matched only by his self-righteousness: "The Berniebro knows a secret," the Atlantic mocked. "The only reason you, and every other Facebook user, haven’t supported Bernie yet is your own willful ignorance." The Berniebro is also said to be an avatar of latent sexism among progressive men toward former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. As Salon argued, "A chunk of Sanders support with his young male cohort comes from guys who really don’t cotton well to the idea of women in power."

or all the attention this band of unpleasant men with mommy issues attracts, you might assume they're core to Sanders' support among young progressives. But a new poll from Rock the Vote is turning that conventional wisdom on its head. Yes, there's a big gender gap among young voters backing Bernie Sanders. But it's not among men. Voting-age women under the age of 35 now favor Sanders by 20 percentage points over Clinton. You read that right: Young female voters support Bernie Sanders by an expansive margin.

The poll, published Monday in USA Today, was conducted among more than 1,000 young adults by the polling firm Ipsos. Sanders leads broadly among voting-age millennial Democrats and Independents: 46 percent to 35 percent for Clinton. But Sanders' advantage among young, voting-age men — a modest 4 percentage points — is barely outside the margin of error. Far from being a drag on on Clinton's candidacy, this poll suggests, young men are the demographic keeping her in the hunt among millennials.

Meant to frighten people into being labeled sexist if they dare question the coronation of Hillaria Clintonia Imperatrix de Nova Pax America. Truth be told, some of the real bros are the ones who want things as they are, with just enough civil liberty to keep them rich, fat and happy, but still want to treat minorities of all sorts with a mixture of contempt and faux pity and self-righteousness. It is no accident that DWS swipe against young Millennial women was done "they do not understand" because it is young Millennial women that will bear the brunt of the consequences, whether it is not getting a job, or seeing their children go to underfunded schools. or simply worrying that they will get shot on the way home from school. Now of course, add the fact that female soldiers are filling cemeteries and VA hospitals just like their dads and older brothers did, yay progress (sigh).

It is not that Hillary is running, it is that she has allowed the conservative wing of the party to creep into her ears and make damned sure any chance at transforming issues or attacking wall street is crushed in the egg. It is worse because, despite the sheer incompetence of ALL of the GOP candidates, the media will still play to that great decider of all, the Reagan democrat, who will once again , like Lucy pulling the football form Charlie Brown, pull back the football and say "I rejected you because Fox News told me too."

That's ok, DWS will run for governor, and screw that up, just like she screwed up the last election down here.

to be a Liberal firebrand of a woman like Ann Richards or Molly Ivans. Or someone like Hattie Wyatt Caraway of Arkansas, the first elected woman senator back in 1932. Women who were proud to be women and not trying to do it a mans way, but a womans way. Someone like them will come up soon and you can make a bet that she will have universal support.

Well I guess that explains why DWS attacked young women and Granny/Abuela made this drinking ad to appeal to the young men demographic. LOL - it's so fucked up.
