I post on a lot of boards and someone will post a photo of themselves or of their significant other and invariably someone will make a disparaging remark. My retort is always that the person who is making a disparaging remark about the looks of others should post a photo of themselves.

What do you think of that approach? Your associates can also answer it if they are so inclined.

Thank you in advance,

Respectfully,
DSB

I could make more remarks about the looks of the respective candidates and how they once looked but then I would be engaging in the lookism and sexism that society ingrains in us that I have spent a lifetime trying to unlearn.

I try not to judge people by how they look even though that is how our youth oriented culture orients us to.

The other night they had photos of h, trump and Rubio and Bernie. All of them save Bernie were smiling and looked like the professional head shots given to the press. Bernie was a candid shot and he was pressing his lips giving him a stern look.

You are showing that the press has chosen to use a photo of h looking pouty or mad. That's it. The press is using visuals to create their new narrative.

I didn't say anything positive about this pic. In fact, I think it is in poor taste.

I almost used the word outrageous in the post but decided to post nothing but the pic.

The reaction here shows me how shallow many are.

I'm fine with my post-primary cred.

The ones of her with her mouth wide open are far worse.

She's been photographed six ways from Sunday for more than 30 years. There are some good ones and some bad ones.

I have noticed the media likes to use pics of Bernie with his hair all messy. Doesn't bother me. I know his positions are far more powerful than his hair!

Edit to add: At the same time Obama's skin got darker and darker...I notice those things and they are subtle nuance. Nothing to fight over...just an observation I made at the time.

I'll stay out of this one.

Jan 2016

I almost posted some text about the pic being outrageous for the media to use but decided to post no comment to see the reaction.

There has been such an unexpected onslaught assuming I was posting it for nefarious reasons having nothing to do with Huffpost's use of the pic.

Obviously, the people attacking took it out of context and think that the pic is unflattering. That says a lot about them, not me. I think it was in poor taste for what it was used for (why I posted) but I like the pic. It would be very powerful in another context.

I took your post wrong but, I do still agree with your point on Huffpost.

Thanks for clearing it up.
