I dared to hope for change in 2008

I dared to hope for change in 2008 and we made it.

If we compare the last 7 years to the previous 30, we made some good and some significant change. Obama can't take credit for all the great changes and he can be burdened with some of the negative changes.

We did get change though.

One of the areas we did not make any serious movement was balancing income inequality.

I get it, we all have a personal list of issues and absolute needs. BLM, gender equality, LGBT rights, healthcare..... the list to pick from is endless.

For me, economic equality hits the top of the list. Money can't make you happy, but I would love to see you live without it.

All of our needs and desires simply get EASIER when we have financial stability. When we get a fair wage for our hard work. When we can step away from that precipice by at least a couple of months of down time. All of our other needs get easier to achieve when we're not living under the threat of poverty.

So, I'm supporting Bernie Sanders for President. We've made some change, now it's time to redouble the efforts. To focus on the disgusting income inequality we suffer.

Let's balance the economic scales. While we do so, we'll gain the stamina, the resources, the safety to do everything else we want and need.

Bernie 2016. It's just too important to settle for the status quo. We need to continue change.

1. Obama got the change he could get.

I don't think real change happens unless you fix the system. And I don't see it happening under Bernie or Hillary or Martin or Donald or Marco or Jeb. That change is bigger than all of them. The system is broken---the government is broken. Not sure if anything can be done.

6. Some extra cross-over appeal + coattails = eliminate the GOP's ability to frustrate legislation.

Bernie can do that, as long as the DNC chair selects a few not too corporate candidates to ride his coattails. Real liberals have a better chance of flipping seats.

Then, president Sanders could threaten to withold his support from Democrats who work with the remains of the GOP to frustrate sensible solutions. And that would start to fix the Democratic Party's part of the broken system.

But I agree we need some sweaping reforms for Wall Street, campaign financing, health care, law enforcement, institutional racism, immigration, gender equality, gay equality, gun control, and so on. Winning the GE will only be the first of many victories we need. It will be a long way.

9. Debbie's gonna have her hands full.

She'll be in the primary of her life. She's going to be way to busy to worry about anyone besides herself.

2. Saw the SOTU

So glad to have campaigned for Obama and see him win and speak again tonight.

It sure appears Obama has heard Bernie and has respect for Bernie and Bernie's followers. Obama hit on several issues Bernie and even Occupy brought forward.

Thanks, Barack for setting the stage for Bernie's ascension. We owe you.

3. As am I.

It was not a wasted effort fighting for Obama. I doubt we would be as well off today if Hillary had taken the primary in 08.

We owe Obama the effort and willpower to keep fighting for change.

4. Truth be told

It is gonna be hard to be better than Obama when it comes to SOTU address. Bernie will not be as nice and as accommodating to the establishmentarianism which has infested congress. Obama showed his frustration, Bernie may just show his anger at what they have done to our great country.

But I do believe Bernie will get far more cheers!

5. Bernie has his own way of speaking.

Some call it yelling, I call it the hard truth.

I can't wait to hear his first national address as POTUS. I expect him to double down on his campaign and demand we help him tackle the things that really hold us back.

7. They say the mind has the infinite capacity to rationalize.

Well, I guess it does help some people to cope....

Obama is a Corporate Democrat. During a 2008 debate Clinton in one of her rare "truthful" unscripted moments voiced frustration because she said Obama was no different then her (though he was being embraced by the progressives where she was reviled).

Once Obama got elected and started appointing people it became obvious that we had been sold a real false bill of goods.

8. The last 7 years wasn't all bad.

Sure, we're still getting screwed, but it could have been worse..... We could have had Clinton and gotten nothing.

We did get some positive change. Now it's time to double down and demand a whole lot more.
