Bernie's take on President Obama's State of the Union Speech.

U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders
35 mins ·

President Obama raised some enormously important points in the State of the Union regarding the long-term future of our country – much I agreed with. Not only can we effectively combat climate change, we can create good paying jobs. Yes, we have to destroy ISIS, but we must do so through a coalition, and we cannot get bogged down in perpetual warfare in the quagmire of the Middle East.

I also appreciated the president’s point that we need more civil politics, that we need to get big money out of politics, and that at a time of tremendous wealth and income inequality we must revitalize American democracy.

It was a great speech, definitely one of his best, if you haven't seen the speech, it's well worth viewing.

I guess you'd think that if you weren't following along closely for the last 8 years.

Obama has addressetjose issues, but not as forcefully as Bernie. I got the sense watching Obama that he was very aware of the positive response Sanders has gotten on those issues

notable exception; the TPP, that speech would've carried over well at an Occupy Event, the vast majority of it aligned perfectly with Bernie's message.

greatly supplemented Bernie's candidacy and I wouldn't be too surprised if more conventional Democratic Leaders start coming out of the woodwork and endorse Bernie.

I'm not counting on it, but I believe this speech magnified Bernie's message to the nation.

last State of the Union speech and to give that up for a fund raiser?

That doesn't seem too politically astute to me.

Bernie's campaign. It's as if Obama was handing the torch to Bernie. That is especially true of Obama's very moving discussion about the changes we need in our politics. Also true when Obama talked about the gerrymandering and the social justice issues.

Bernie surge in the poll. Obama surely knows about Bernie's fundraising success.

I thought Obama was feeling the Bern! And it made me very happy!

That's great news.

I think Bernie would be a good president to follow Obama and carry on Obama's ideas and dreams, the many things Obama wanted to do but couldn't.
