Why Bernie Sanders is Soaring, in 1 Graph
A recent poll from Gallup indicates another reason voters may Feel the Bern. We've written often about the rise of political polarization. The trend is clear: liberal Democrats are the new Democrats.
Both moderate Democrats and conservative Democrats have fallen off since 2000. When President Obama was elected the first time, moderate and liberals were even. Since, voters have embraced less middle-of-the-road policies, on both sides. Nearly 70 percent of Republicans identify as conservative, according to the same survey.
All of this may bode well for Sanders and poorly for Clinton.

(6,133 posts)People need to actually go to the polls. The best reason to for doing so, other than being older and thinking it is your civic duty is being pissed off.
I only see pissed off dumb fucks on the right. That's how they work.
I don't see enough pissed off smart fucks on the left. That's how we work.
I hope I'm wrong.

(2,546 posts)No more rhetoric that soars while all along no action was ever intended. Bernie is a candidate that people can believe in. bernie tells the truth. he is not promising the moon but he is promising a legitimate direction/vector that will be pursued in an absolutely forthright manner... No Bull from Bernie!

(6,133 posts)I don't know though if it's enough. The media frames the game these days, and they don't want Bernie because he is a threat to them making lots of money.
My college age kids are for Bernie. It is my job, I feel, to make sure they vote. I should do more though.

(3,190 posts)I could have told Gallup this without an actual poll...my interactions with everyday people, social media, just the general energy, Democrats are much more liberal and progressive than a few years ago. Maybe it's a backlash against the ultra-conservative teajadists, or maybe it's an awakening, like a renessance, I'm not sure. But I know it's happening.

Maybe having Debbie Wasserman Schultz as the public face of the DNC Establishment... not such a great idea.
