Her voice gets on my nerves, her laugh makes me run screaming, but mostly I don't like her FP and economic positions. Personally, however, I don't know her to know if I like her.

(11,945 posts)People who are madly in love with themselves rarely, if ever, feel empathy for others. They might fake it -- along with jolly smiles, laughter, pleasant chitchat -- for the purpose of making a favorable impression, but they rarely treat those who are not useful to them with anything like genuine empathy. Often they lack empathy for their own children.

I don't like George Bush II, in fact I revile him and what he stands for...what he did to the USA and Iraq.
I don't wan't to find out how much I will dislike HRC, if elected, so that's why I am voting for SBS.

(11,366 posts)If y'all are going to go with the "Bernie supporters = Paul supporters" garbage I've seen on here at least four times today, then I'm gonna go with the more accurate meme - that Hillary's a neocon.
crystal dawn
(85 posts)has been around for years too. I suppose you have specific details of her work as Secretary of State that supports your argument then. Or is it the simple fact that she refuses to be an isolationist like Paul and Sanders that makes her a neocon?
edit: oh and you are completely wrong about her economic comparisons with Republicans. She aligns pretty close to Bernie's economic policies thank you very much. Unless you want to spew Wall St. Corportist BS also.

(4,452 posts)Does it really matter if I "like" HRC? She could be the worst neighbor I ever had but if she had a better record of helping me deal with my problems I would support her.
Ending impression, she doesn't and she hasn't so my decision is made.

(50,414 posts)Likability isn't something I look for in politicians and I certainly would give it scant regard when I vote.
In my eyes, Hillary is just another ambitious playing on her celebrity to gain office. I also see her as unfit to hold public office.
Do I "like" her? I don't even know her but I know her history and am all too familiar with her politics and stances.
As a person, I'm indifferent to her. As a candidate, I won't vote for her.

(5,815 posts)It's just not a good psychology, and I don't particularly recommend people who operate that way to executive positions. It usually means they will govern according to personal interest over the common good.

(3,811 posts)My mother is the same way. You can find her in a crowd from her laugh.
Doesn't mean I agree with her perspective on politics or government, but I like her.
Warren DeMontague
(80,708 posts)Politically, I liked her a crapton more during the 90s, and the graph of that went down precipitously between the IWR vote, "marriage is a sacred bond between a man and a woman", proposing anti-1st Amendment laws against flag burning, hard line positions in support of mass incarceration of marijuana users, etc.
Her performance in 2008 didn't help, although to her credit she graciously came around to support the nominee (unlike some of her followers) by the time of the convention.
My esteem for her went down even further when her campaign this time around began, as I feared it would, with empty meaningless poll-tested platitudes, not to mention brain-breaking inanities like "I have ties to Wall St. because nineeleven" and "we shouldn't worry about 'free speech, etc' concerns keeping us from censoring the internet" and "we need a manhattan project on encryption".
When her people started talking, with no apparent sense of irony, about their plans to have her be more spontaneous, the deal descended rapidly into farce.
The fact that she's so closely affilated with Debbie "pot needs to stay illegal because heroin" Wasserman Schultz does not, similarly, help.
She COULD have run a better campaign- at least, I think she could have, assuming that underneath all the poll-testing and carefully crafted messaging and soft focus videos there's a person who has strong convictions and beliefs and is not afraid to take even potentially controversial positions and actually wants to effectively lead this country for reasons beyond simply wanting - and having wanted, for a VERY long time- to be POTUS.

(16,286 posts)not only dont care about stuff that matters, but they are actively seeking to do harm, GREAT harm.
But I bet she is kind of boring, most highly intelligent, consumed by their career folks are.

(14,255 posts)Does her campaign actually think that "liking" Hillary would be enough to ignore the dishonesty and the issues?
That is delusional.
I don't like her policies, her issues and her lies. I see no need to have any other feelings about her. She is a politician.

(449 posts)As for supporters on both sides it's all perspective. When someone is fighting for something they believe in their are bound to be some hurt feelings. My hope is that we can overcome the petty shit.
There are quite a few Clinton supporters here whom I truly respect, although they may not realize it.
Be kind, people.

(10,893 posts)HC has plenty of accomplishments and a strong record of advocating progressive causes as Senator, she has been loyal to the party, and she did a fine job as SOS. My feeling is that some of those who badmouth her are intentionally starting trouble, while others need to do their research on the things she has done and how it is like night and day between her and any Republican. She is fully qualified to be Pres. Obama's successor.

(15,502 posts)I like, respect, admire, and am proud of every one of our Dem candidates. I consider it a privilege to be able to vote for any one of them in the GE.
I like each for different reasons. But in the final analysis, all things considered - the bad and the good - Hillary is my top choice because, IMO, her experience and personality represent a comprehensive package of the strengths that I believe that our next President needs most. I will be voting for her in the primaries.
As to supporters of the various candidates - which I realize was not the question - my answer is more nuanced. The overwhelming majority of Hillary's DU supporters are posters I respect and admire, mainly for their common sense, LOL, but also because they are long-time DU members who have helped to make this site the unique place that it is. ALL of MOM's supporters are posters I respect and admire, especially for their courage and loyalty to their candidate in a lopsided uphill battle and their grace and courtesy in arguing their candidate's strengths instead of repeating ad nauseam mostly GOPer memes about the others.
I also respect and admire most of Bernie's DU supporters for the same reasons that I admire supporters of the other two, even though he is not my preferred candidate. But there are some here who are a real turn-off and neither a credit nor a help to their candidate at all.
Thank heavens that there is an "Ignore" feature on DU because I have used that feature generously in the past two months - after having had only a maximum of three people on "Ignore" from the time I - a long-time lurker - actually signed up for DU.

(16,064 posts)she is the epitome of everything that is wrong with politics in this country. Anyone who has been paying attention to politics for the last few decades knows this.

(615 posts)This week's episode of "Let's dishonestly attack the Democrat standing for universal Medicare with Republican talking points, and send my child out to participate", then doubling down on the dishonesty when it is pointed out, offers a big, ugly window into her character that some people are choosing not to look through. But the Democratic establishment doesn't seem to care that a candidate who has been in the public eye for 23 years, and 60% of Americans report that they view as untrustworthy, is not going to turn it around in 8 months and is going to be an anchor on Democrats downballot.
