Quick, Impt. Question:

I'm co-organizing a debate watch party for this Sun.

For this crowd, we think we need a drinking game.

What words for any or all of the candidates do you think should trigger taking a drink?

(We don't want to get them too sloshed, of course; but the word needs to happen often enough so they don't lose interest.)

Thank you!!!

(Edit: Pls K&R for visibility.)

You don't want to use words like "strong" or "secure." The problem is, one candidate is likely to use certain buzzwords frequently, while a different candidate will use different buzzwords. We are not like the Republicans. That would be easy. Just use the word "bomb" and everybody would be bombed in ten minutes.

Just to keep everyone's eyes on the screen maybe everyone has to drink when one of the candidates takes a sip?

For Hillary, when she does the whole Smile and say "Well...." thing to stall for time to think of something to say.

For Bernie, when he says "That's a fair question" (also a way to stall for time to think of something to say)

For Martin when he says something about not getting enough time to speak, or anything along those lines. Odds are he won't get much time to present his views so you need to be a little liberal with this one so that it might actually happen.

These things won't happen much, but with different ones for each candidate it may make people not lose interest.

Good luck, have fun!

That's a far better approach, I think, and the one I'll be using.

Partying is something else. I don't do political partying. Sorry.

As for me being a party animal, I'm not, so much. I'm a little too serious for most parties. However, small gatherings of like-thinking people are great. I'm an old geezer. I don't dance. I don't drink too much. I'm a conversationalist, not a party person. I didn't know that was a requirement.

In my younger, single days, I was always an observer as a party-goer. I'd find a comfy corner, sip my drink, smile, eat my hors d'oeuvre and bide my time. Inevitably, after a while, some nice young woman would come over to see what I was doing there, sitting all alone. We'd chat for a while, and soon I would no longer be alone. I met some very delightful people that way. It even led to a marriage once. Everyone's different.

So you go right ahead and play a drinking game. I'll be over in the corner, waiting for someone who's bored with the game. Who knows what'll happen next.

the last watch party I went to was dull to the point of torturousness (and I'm not much of a partier, either). I do not want to drive people away from political involvement. So my hope is to identify words that won't come up too often, but reward people's attention often enough to keep them focussed.

Clinton: "God-given potential" (to connect with religious voters), "dismantle" (to misrepresent Sanders on health care), "smart power" to refer to the stupid shit she pushed in Libya.

"Universal Health Care"
"Wall Street"
"Wealth Inequality" (Bernie)
"9/11" (Hillary)
"Record of Reform" (O'Malley)

Now there is a big chance that all 3 of them will use those terms, but the following ones are who is most likely to bring those up.

If you want your guests to get trashed, just use "Health Care System" because everybody has something to say about that.

Have fun!
