Report: At Table Of Big (Romney) Donors, No One Thought Romney Will Win...

-snip-

The campaign is moving fast to calm nerves, especially among donors. To get a flavor of the challenge before them, a top donor said that after Romney spoke at a fundraising breakfast at the Hilton New York on Friday, a will-Mitt-win poll was taken at one table of 10 men, each of whom had paid at least $2,500 to attend, and some of whom had raised as much as $50,000 for the campaign. Not a single man said yes.

WTF!!!

Who the F**K would pay $2,500+ to attend a breakfast for a guy who they think is going to lose?

That's like us commoners spending $10 to watch an awful movie!

But they're doing it just because they might be wrong ... and if he does win, they'll be in. That's what they want.

They're making an investment in their own future. Just like the republi-CON speakers at their CONvention.

Why would someone show up and donate $2500 or more to Rmoney if they knew he would lose the election? Most likely they are middle management at some financial firm and their boss asked them to go and donate the money. Sure, they could decline, and then after the next reorg or downturn they would be reassigned to a lower position, etc. Hey, nothing in writing, no proof, but the two guys from the same office that did play ball get the better job, higher bonus, etc. Wink Wink.

That's the way business works.

Or, they could just be hard core republicans. I've donated money to several Democratic campaigns over the years where the candidate had no chance of winning but was a good liberal and, in one case, a good friend.

"idiots, who don't know what it takes to run a country.... not to mention pick a candidate who actually might be able to do it..."

The revelation that none of the believe he will win is pretty shocking on its face.

And of course, the coffee was freshly picked that morning by slave laborers in Africa and flown in on a Lear Jet to be freshly ground by a 47%-er waiter at each table to deliver their espresso. And of course, there were only men at the table. The women were busy getting fresh Botox injections for the evening's festivities.
