The Clintons' fear: Bernie "will foment a large wave first-time voters and liberals" like Barack did

According to Democrats close to the Clintons and involved with her campaign, Mrs. Clinton and the former president are also unnerved by the possibility that Mr. Sanders will foment a large wave of first-time voters and liberals that will derail her in Iowa, not unlike Barack Obama’s success in 2008, which consigned Mrs. Clinton to a third-place finish. They have asked her advisers about the strength of the campaign’s data modeling and turnout assumptions in Iowa, given that her 2008 campaign’s predictions were so inaccurate.

The Clintons are in meltdown because voters in Iowa and NH are FEELING THE BERN!!

1. What is sad about this ...
Sat Jan 16, 2016, 05:12 PM
Jan 2016

They acknowledge that the Bernie Wave could become a tsunami, apparently bringing MANY MANY new voters that will swamp voting places ...

So ... Why isn't the DNC jumping aboard this crazy train to the top of the world? ... Shouldn't they be celebrating this newfound strength?

The cognitive dissonance is strong with this one ...

The DNC is fighting against the base ...

The Clinton Campaign is fighting against the base ...

Clinton supporters are fighting against the base ...

This is awkward ...

This could be an OP all on it's own. Why isn't the Democratic leadership harnessing the the energy generated by the Sanders campaign? Why aren't they supporting him in visible and public ways? I think we all know the answer. Follow the money.

4. The corporatists in the DNC don't want to play to the base.

They want to continue to be phony Democrats that say "We suck less than the mean Republicans" while kissing up to Wall Street.

Bernie terrifies them because he may force the party to actually work for the people for a change. They'd rather do juuuuuust enough to get some Democrats elected, but not a majority, so they can continue to ride the Wall Street gravy train while blaming lack of results on the mean Republicans.

7. Corporatists are more loyal to corporate owners than the party constituents!

That is why the corporatists would rather see a corporatist of the other party win over a populist in their own party. That's what their being paid to do by those who are buying the field!

If they really supported the party like they claim, they would be embracing all the new activity and not fighting it like they are.

All three are going to vote for Christie in the primary, and then weren't sure what they would do in the GE.

It's an odd election season that's for sure.

Hillary is looking more republican every day from attacking national health care, lying about her opponent and courting Wall Street Banksters now she wants to limit voter turn out.

10. Healy's point is that she should have gotten more aggressive sooner.

I suppose there's some truth to that but she's doing it her way which is cautious at first, until she has to fight, and then she fights hard. I expect tomorrow's debate will be exciting.

12. Healy did not make that point; he's reporting that "Clinton allies" incl. Bill Clinton are saying that in hindsight...

I am not sure I will watch the debate. I doubt many voters will, either, which was DWS' aim, though I fully expect Hillary to roll out media-ready sound bites full of easily verifiable lies about Bernie's policies while Bernie acts like a gentleman.
