2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHillary is dealing with mounting health issues, new book claims
Hillary Clinton faces mounting health issues and shes secretly worried that shes too sick to run for president, according to a new book.
The 67-year-old Democratic front-runner has been frequently plagued by blinding headaches and a series of strokes over the course of the campaign which have left her second-guessing her chances of winning in 2016, says the upcoming book Unlikeable The Problem with Hillary.
Excerpts were published Tuesday by Radar Online.
For the first time Ive known her, shes showing self-doubt about her strength and vitality, a friend of Clintons told author Edward Klein, who has written about the Obamas and Kennedys in the past.

(9,522 posts)I would not put much faith in this story, and i am no fan of Hillary. Also, I don't think it's a good thing to speculate about her having strokes. I found out a year ago that I had had 2 strokes, and i have no clue when they happened. It's a scary thing, and I don't relish a "has she or hasn't she" conversation about that.

(14,918 posts)you need to minimize the risk of any future strokes. It must have been scary indeed. It also puts your comment on another thread in perspective, and I understand now that your stated concern was sincere. We may disagree on some political points, but as one caring human being to another....

(22,871 posts)Clinton was the product of rape.
Klein has been criticized for his biography of Hillary Clinton, titled, The Truth About Hillary: What She Knew, When She Knew It, and How Far She'll Go to Become President, which was released on June 21, 2005. Politico criticized the book for "serious factual errors, truncated and distorted quotes and overall themes [that] don't gibe with any other serious accounts of Clinton's life."[9] The book was attacked not only by liberals, but by a neoconservative as well. John Podhoretz wrote in the New York Post, "Thirty pages into it, I wanted to take a shower. Sixty pages into it, I wanted to be decontaminated. And 200 pages into it, I wanted someone to drive stakes through my eyes so I wouldn't have to suffer through another word."[10] In National Review James Geraghty wrote, Folks, there are plenty of arguments against Hillary Clinton, her policies, her views, her proposals, and her philosophies. This stuff aint it. Nobody on the right, left, or center ought to stoop to this level.[11]
Kathryn Jean Lopez of National Review asked Klein in a June 20, 2005 interview, "Why on earth would you put such a terrible story in your book...that looks to be flimsily sourced at that?," regarding his suggestion that Chelsea Clinton was conceived in an act of marital rape.[12] Facing criticism from both the left and right for making the claim, Klein eventually backed away from the insinuation in an interview with radio host Jim Bohannon on June 23, 2005[13]

(99,710 posts)First The New York Post:
Murdoch ownership[edit]
In 1976, Rupert Murdoch bought the Post for US$30.5 million.[23] The Post at this point was the only surviving afternoon daily in New York City and its circulation under Schiff had grown by two-thirds, particularly after the failure of the competing World Journal Tribune. However, the rising cost of operating an afternoon daily in a city with worsening daytime traffic congestion, combined with mounting competition from expanded local radio and TV news cut into the Post's profitability, though it made money from 1949 until Schiff's final year of ownership, when it lost $500,000. (The paper has lost money ever since).[5] Under Murdoch's watch, the Post veered sharply to the right editorially, in accordance with Murdoch's views.
In late October 1995, the Post announced plans to change its Monday through Saturday publication and start a Sunday edition,[24] which it last published briefly in 1989.[25] On April 14, 1996, the Post delivered its new Sunday edition at the cost of 50 cents per paper by keeping its size to 120 pages.[26] The amount, significantly less than Sunday editions from competitors The Daily News and The New York Times, was part of the Post's efforts "to find a niche in the nation's most competitive newspaper market".[26]
In December 2012, Murdoch announced that Jesse Angelo had been appointed Publisher.[27]

Then Edward Klein:
The British newspaper The Guardian pointed out a number of verifiable factual errors in Klein's 2014 book Blood Feud.[14]
Questions of credibility of sources in work[edit]
Klein has also come under fire for his use of anonymous quotes, purported to be from the subjects of his books, which he claims he received from anonymous insiders. The credibility of such quotes has been questioned by writers such as Joe Conason,[15] Salon's Simon Malloy [16] and conservative commentators Rush Limbaugh[17] and Peggy Noonan.[18] "Some of the quotes strike me as odd, in the sense that I don't know people who speak this way," Limbaugh said of Klein's work, describing the sources as "grade school chatter."

If it's true, she has no business running for President. That's just wrong.

(30,247 posts)You post an article from the NY Post about a book written by Ed Klein???????????
Am I on Free Republic? Do you even know who that vile man is??????
Here's an article form the same NY Post discrediting Klein's 2005 book.
'On page 202 of his new tome just out yesterday Ed Klein writes, Greed seemed to be the only explanation for the outlandish book deal. Klein is referring to the $8 million advance Hillary Clinton received for her autobiography.
These are curious words to be publishing in 2005, when Klein and the world know that her book Living History was a phenomenal success and has earned its author more than the $8 million in royalty payments advanced to her.
Curious and revealing. Because if any book in recent memory reads as though it has been written out of greed a greedy hunger to separate millions of conservative book buyers from their hard-earned 25 bucks it is Ed Kleins The Truth About Hillary.
This is one of the most sordid volumes Ive ever waded through. Thirty pages into it, I wanted to take a shower. Sixty pages into it, I wanted to be decontaminated. And 200 pages into it, I wanted someone to drive stakes through my eyes so I wouldnt have to suffer through another word.'

(13,390 posts)And we can dread much more of it to come. It's an obvious line of attack given the ages of the 2 most competetive Democratic candidates. I'm not a proponant of demanding health records, etc. The candidates word is good enough for me. But we should have some numerical sense about what getting older means when the party begins the process of looking for candidates.
