2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWhy hillary's sudden embracing of Obama isn't a winning tactic.
hillary Clinton made an interesting comment regarding Bernie Sanders during the debate tonight:
I'd say he'd be absolutely right to do so. I'm not sure how calling this out is suppose to be a winning argument. That aside, she's trying to take the high ground by placing Obama on a pedestal, and, in essence, saying if you attack him, you're the bad guy.
Interestingly, she can be seen here attacking Obama over taking donations... the very thing she said Bernie shouldn't do:
That alone pokes a few dozen holes in that over inflated argument.
However, in the words of the immortal Billy Mays: But wait! There's more!
Here's hillary during the prior election, speaking words that are amazingly true... and damning.
?t=19s
The key phrase spoken by hillary while attacking Obama;
The problem is, her own actions are comparatively far from laudable. She's been trying to distract away from the fact that big banks contributed to her campaign... she's used numerous methods, up to and, amazingly, including the invocation of 9/11.
She's made questionable deals with foreign leaders to get donations to the Clinton foundation.
She helped put together the TPP, praised it 45 times and called it the gold standard.
She's been part of the anti-marriage equality crowd.
She voted in favor of the Iraq war.
She's had classified documents and other governed-work related e-mails on her private server.
She's taken money from the big banks ad other corporate interests.
There is a whole laundry list of her actions speaking much louder than her usual word-plays. This is just a fraction of them... even if we discount the inevitable claims that a few on the list are "GOP talking points", there are tons more. Most of them legitimate.
But, I digress... lets continue with the rest of the train-wreck that was her attack on Bernie:
Remember when I said she was putting him on a pedestal? That was it, right there. Not that it wasn't true... but it's meant to be a point of comparison for a politically-expedient lie:
This is a fabrication. Bernie did call Obama's negotiation with the GOP weak, not Obama himself. A minor distinction, but an important one. I know of very few who would disagree that Obama used kid-gloves with the GOP for quite a while. After Obama took off the kid-gloves the economy really started coming around. You can see the original comment here:
That's what the hubbub is about.
Hardly the grand hay-maker to knock Bernie Down.
Barely even a love tap, for that matter... and certainly not a winning argument.
Go Bernie!

(19,926 posts)Said she's hiding behind the attack, using Obama, I forget how he worded it but then said she used 9/11 in a previous debate to try and defend her Wall Street ties. It was beautiful coming from O'Malley.

(232 posts)I am an Obama Mama and Woman For Bernie. About 70% of Barack's donors are exclusively Bernie's small donors now. President Obama is far from a friend of corporations. His Wall Street donations were down significantly in 2012 versus 2008 (they weren't that big to begin with, anyway, compared with true corporatist Hillary) because of the passing of Dodd-Frank and his Justice Department getting (and continuing to prosecute) historically high fines from Wall Street corruption cases.
My own state of NY has benefitted tremendously because of the Obama Justice Department's prosecuting Wall Street firms and various hedge fund owners yielded so many billions that a $3 billion state deficit turned into a $3 billion SURPLUS that has allowed for the fixing of infrastructure long delayed throughout the state and around NYC that had idled after Congressional Republicans shut off funding after the American people voted in a GOP House majority in 2010.

(19,926 posts)He met with health insurance companies in secret (only admitted it after he had to) and didn't even allow single-payer advocates a place at the table. He shelved the public option on his own. He offered up SS to the GOP on his own.
Please.
