question for those following primaries very closely

I'm a die hard liberal that so far has been sitting on the fence. I see positives in both Hillary and Bernie (sorry O'Malley- you're a great guy but absolutely have no chance) and negatives as well

If I go with my heart then Bernie is the man for me- he really embodies the true liberal values that I believe in. My worry though is that he can't win a general election. I feel that if he wins the primary, republicans will spend 24/7 with all ad money on labeling him as a socialist, and most americans don't take the time to actually learn what the word means but instead automatically assume that it is a negative thing

If I go with my brain then I feel that Hillary is the best candidate for me- yes she does not hold all truly liberal views, but she definitely has the resources to give the Republicans their best fight. I just don't see how Bernie will survive the onslaught of "He's a socialist" bullshit that republicans will play (along with "he's a communist" since they can't comprehend the differences).

in essence- Bernie is the true liberal, but supporting him could be a risk with the white house going to bat shit crazy trump or cruz (or any other republican)....Hillary is not perfect but seems like the "safer" choice

Any thoughts?

At the end of the day regardless of who wins the primary I will donate, volunteer and vote for them because ultimately all I care about is a republican not getting into the white house

1. Polls show Bernie doing as well, often better, than Hillary

In the General Election. My honest thoughts? Bernie's our best best. People on all sides realize the status quo is not sustainable and not working for the vast majority of Americans. Hillary has a lot to recommend her, but she is the ultimate status quo politician.

like Denmark, he'd have my support. But, I think there is too much risk that when he starts talking about countries like Denmark, it will turn off many voters.

the replies. No one would have beaten Nixon that year and every Democrat knew it.

How fast you changed the subject fast from your post about your indecision is noted.

14. McGovern?

Oh.. you mean the candidate that the establishment of the Democratic party hated so much that they basically sabotaged his campaign after he won. There were even Democrats for Nixon folk that popped out after McGovern took the nomination.

And as far as 1988 goes both Jackson and Simon were significantly to the left of Dukakis, so no, your analogy does not really hold water.

Again, Bernie is polling better in swing states and with independents than Hillary is when both are put up against any nutjob in the GOP clown car. Hillary's negatives are a huge risk that we should not be taking.

It's funny that you just discount someone else's views so easily.

Have at it, it is what it is.

Over Clinton with Independent voters as well as young voters. Independents will decide the GE and bernie is the only one getting them excited and ready to vote so he can def win.

4. Well, the primaries are the time to vote your heart.

What I don't quite understand about this argument -- and you're hardly the only one to make it -- is this: if Mr Sanders does defeat Mrs Clinton in the primaries, doesn't that overturn the "resources" argument? One would expect that some of that pile that so concerns you would be put to securing the nomination to begin with.

5. Bernie has been doing very well in head to head match ups against Republicans, especially Trump,

and better than Hillary does in some polls. Also, Bernie's supporters are much more enthusiastic than hers and therefore likelier to show up at the polls on election day.

On a message board, it can be very difficult to distinguish concern trolling from genuine indecision, so don't be surprised if some who reply to you seem to doubt your sincerity.

If everyone in America does the same, which I suspect they will, Bernie will have no problem winning the GE.

Global warming

Medicare for All

Making the rich pay their fair share

No neocon foreign policy

I think the heart makes the correct decisions on national and global issues.

BTW, nothing is wrong with Sanders' head, either.

16. I also like Sanders a great deal but I do not believe that he is electable

According to an online quiz/test, Sanders is closer to my positions than Hillary Clinton but I live in the real world and I do not believe that Sanders is electable. Control of the SCOTUS is one of my key issues and I do not believe that it is smart to risk letting the GOP control the direction of the SCOTUS for a generation on a candidate who is likely to lose in the general election
