related to the Zerlina Maxwell piece in Feministing. One of these links brings you right back here to DU:

"How To Talk To Scared, Condescending, Misinformed, Old White Dudes' With Your Host, Hillary Clinton

At the Senate hearings looking into the Benghazi attack, Secretary of State Clinton was given the unique opportunity to be yelled at by some vitriolic old white dudes with a loose grasp on the facts, and a firm goal of making her look bad, regardless of what really happened. They did it in a very special way, a way we like to call "mansplaining."

Thanks for giving exposure to Zerlina Maxwell!

time, how many more Benghazi, I didn't know, but trust me moments does she have in a day ? Trust is the issue and that can't be Brow beaten or usurped, and that's what she looks like she was trying to do Saturday, and that's the reason I posted what I did .

that when you are condescending - it somehow back fires. she needs to do more role playing with one of her staff to get control of
her attack response. david axelrod pointed out during the debate redux on cnn that one has to be careful when going after an opponent because the manner and attitude by which it is done can be worse for the attacker than the opponent.

REASON FOR ALERT

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS

I realize that most jurors are Sanders supporters, but would you like it if the response was "Bernie?" Are we not Democrats first? This person doesn't seem to care about the TOS or community standards.

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Mon Jan 18, 2016, 07:35 PM, and the Jury voted 2-5 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Not funny.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Primary wars again
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Has civility totally disappeared on DU these days? The entire thread should be hidden.
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Alerting on this?? Talk about condescending!

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

Opening post: "What do you call it when a person is condescending but looks scared?" I "called it" the main difference between being assertive and aggressive. Aggressive behavior is condescending, while assertive behavior is respectful.

"Assertive behavior allows everyone to feel comfortable and safe, while aggressive people tend to seek control and get their way even if it means hurting others"

For me, it makes assertiveness congruent with deeper values, which is a good motivator for practicing assertiveness.

Then when I was only eleven years old, a favorite relative tried to get "funny" with me.

Since then, I am always a bit suspicious about classiness.
