Republican operatives are having a strange crush onBernie Sanders.
During Sunday nights Democratic debate, the Republican National Committee made the unusual move of sending no fewer than four real-time e-mails to reporters defending the self- described democratic socialist from attacks by Hillary Clinton or echoing his message against her. Based on their content, one could be forgiven for thinking the RNC communiques came from the Sanders campaign.
One RNC e-mail, which was titled Clintons Misleading Health Care Attack, defended the Vermont senator from what it described as the Clinton campaigns inaccurate remarks on Sanders single-payer plan, and quoted news articles that featured rebuttals of her arguments.
A second message countered Clintons attacks on Sanders over gun control by pointing out her gun-friendly statements in the past. Two other e-mails sought to bolster Sanders case that Clinton is too close to Wall Street and the drug industry.
Sean Spicer, the chief strategist and spokesman for the RNC, spent much of the evening tweeting Sanders-friendly commentary on the debate, often with the pro-Sanders hashtag, #FeelTheBern. At one point, Spicer gently chided Sanders for what he deemed a poor response to a question and added, come on we are trying to help u.

(4,246 posts)I wouldn't be surprised if they propped up PBO over Hillary in 08. Not worth the effort to research but I'm sure this happens every election.
Petty stuff that doesn't move large blocks of voters either way.
Our candidates can only rise or fall on their own merits. We have a great slate to choose from.

Sure, let them help.
As usual, they're stupid and short-minded, with their childish games that will bite them in the ass.
Let them help Samders out, when they put Oberführer Trump up against him in the General, Sanders will kick his butt!

(31,849 posts)Yes ... the polling has Bernie beating trump by larger margins than HRC; but, 1) not by much, and 2) this is after HRC has been thoroughly vetted, whereas, Bernie has not.
Trump is calculating that HRC would be the tougher opponent ... Trump's estimation, and I agree, is Bernie has farther to fall when attacked.
