Why does John Boehner run completely unopposed?

Is his pork-barrel spending THAT bad where it is impossible he will lose? The Republicans can say all they want about Obama, but John Boehner's approval rating nationwide is much lower than Obama could ever hope to achieve if he was doing a poor job on purpose. He's a pure obstructionist who has no interest in advancing this country, and no one even bothers to run against him? I find this sickening and it makes me wish I was 25 and I lived in Ohio. I don't care if there is any reasonable shot of winning, but this man has no business getting a free pass to return to Congress, none at all.

Is his district 100% Republican or something? I'm just trying to understand the logic in just LETTING this horrible representative have a free ride, but I don't see any. I think this is very screwed up, am I the only one who sees it this way?

our President will get a chance to give us the next level of an object lesson in centrism, authentic centrism, that is, if things turn out well in November.

In order to be a centrist, you need to know where the center REALLY is, not just where everyone is pretending it is for political convenience. In order to avoid just being DINOs, Democrats need to think more precisely about what the center means, otherwise they'll never discover a reason to do anything other than what Boehner already is, so why provide authentic opposition.

And one of the amazing things about it is that no one has to be other than what they authentically are. That's what the call to honesty is. The processes clarify us, requiring that each person choose as freely as possible relative to the whole, resulting in less skew and, hence, more pi(e).

Let's do it!

for many years, that most Americans ARE in the center, but really, its just logic, for anyone who understands human nature.

Annoys me when Dems complain about leaders who, in fact, serve those/all of us by doing what they CAN do. (Compare McCaskill w Kuchinich, for examples. Don't want to inflame anyone, but its LIFE. :shrug

And a great reason to support Wayne Powell. (Yes, I'm a broken record!)

They didn't believe in career politicians or any of the corporate mudslinging games we have now. Washington could have assigned himself as dictator and no one would have cared, but he stepped aside after 8 years and let someone else do the job. I wish politicians were open and honest and truly represented the wishes of the constituency, but that's not how it works here. It's quite sad in my opinion.

This is Ohio we are talking about, and the Repiglickins are back in charge there.
Maybe no Democrats run because they know the fix is in.

Not saying there aren't people who would, but it requires a lot of fortitude to take the time and spend the money upfront to get a campaign going, within limited likelihood of success.

It is 100% republican as far as local government and mostly as far as voters. In 2008, McCain carried all of Butler County with the exception of the city of Oxford (where Miami University is), and Oxford township (where I live).

It's a joke. The local government around here is the very meaning of corrupt.

Attended Miami (YEARS ago.) Sorry politics is what it is in Butler County. Wasn't at all involved at the time, but did take junior year abroad (I was the FIRST to do so,) 'cause didn't want to spend all 4 years there.
Glad to hear Oxford went Dem in '08.

It basically means he has a free ride until at least the next redistricting I suppose. Speaking of which, did the redistribution based on the 2010 Census make it more or less Republican? You would think he would give up some of the Republican constituents to the seats that may have less security.
