I don't hate Hillary! And I don't love Bernie! And I think there are more on DU like me...Last edited Tue Jan 19, 2016, 06:24 PM - Edit history (1)
I have supported Hillary throughout the years beginning with the Whitewater witch hunt. I think she is a smart, tough candidate. If she is nominated I will support her 100%.
But she doesn't set me on fire. When I first heard that there was this guy Bernie Sanders, a Democratic Socialist, running for President, my curiosity was piqued. I listened to him talking about reining in the banksters with no apologies, getting health care for all under a sane workable and less expensive system, and finally making the one percenters pay a reasonable share of taxes, I started to get excited. This is the kind of talk that I have been waiting for for the past 40 years, since I starting voting, often feeling despair as we faced Nixon, Reagan, and the Bushes, who courted the worst elements of human nature and attacked liberals incessantly. I thought that President Obama was going to change everything. I hoped...but that hope was stomped on by Republicans and their phoney Tea Party acolytes. And he unfortunately listened way too much to the Wall Street banksters. It has been discouraging. I don't hate Hillary and I don't love Bernie. I just really like the fire he puts into his ideas and the way he is unafraid to go where Hillary fears to tread.

1. Reality is usually between those 2 extremes, that's for certain.

2. Probably the vast majority of people on DU agree with you.

3. I think much the same way
I assume the majority of Democrats are like us. I really enjoy what Bernie is pushing, yet there's a practical side that says he might not be able to pull it off.

5. At times I get very sad. We lost Wellstone, we lost JFK Jr,
And I do get nervous about the fact that Bernie has only been a senator and that from a very small state.
I plan to do everything I can to ensure his win, but it is strange, isn't it, that any time we have a charismatic and vibrant younger leader, they are "accidented" out of existence. |
