What a tuxedo tells you about the race between Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/01/19/bernie-sanders-doesnt-own-a-tuxedo-because-of-course-he-doesnt/?hpid=hp_hp-more-top-stories_fix-sanders-poll-215pm%3Ahomepage%2Fstory

Bernie Sanders has been a mayor, a member of the U.S. House and, now, a senator. And yet, he lacks one thing that you would assume someone with that sort of resume would possess: a tuxedo.

"I do not own a tuxedo," Sanders told Time magazine over the weekend. "Never have I worn a tuxedo."

Stephen Colbert did a riff on Sanders's tuxedo-lessness on his Monday show, suggesting the likely reason was that "they don't make tuxedos in rumpled tweed."

Yes, it's funny. And, no, Sanders won't win or lose the Democratic presidential nomination based on whether he owns a tuxedo. But Sanders's lack of a tuxedo is, actually, quite telling -- and adds to the radical outsider vs. status quo insider dynamic that has helped the Vermont socialist make up ground against Hillary Clinton in this race.

I bought one for my son for his prom. The tux cost me less than the vest and bow tie, which I bought locally, and was better quality. But it was most likely not made in the USA... (Are there sny USA tux makers any more?)

So, I went to a tux rental place and asked if they'd sell me one. $100. They did the necessary tailoring on it and it came with all the necessaries, shirt, tie, cufflinks, etc.

It didn't even look like it had been used. I wore it for performances for about 8 years. But, that was back in the 80s. I don't know what they cost today from a similar source, but it's an option for people who need one.

the vest and bow tie, too, if he had decided earlier on going to the prom. He told me No! I'm not going. Then two or three weeks before the prom, I've asked whosit to the prom. I had a real scramble to get the tux. The one I had planned on getting was sold out...

The vest and bow tie were $85.00 at the local bridal/tux shop.

More power to Bernie if he doesn't want to wear one or attend events that ask for one; doesn't mean anything in the current campaign.

$73,325 in the last year for candidates, Committees, and SuperPACs.

Given the insults I take, why would I make it up?
