Mitt Romney: The GOP's Very Best

By Kevin Drum at Mother Jones

"SNIP.....................................

I would like to take this chance to remind everyone that earlier this year Mitt Romney was pretty unanimously considered the strongest candidate in the Republican field — by a large margin. He was, without much question, the most electable of the primary bunch and the toughest opponent for Barack Obama. He was disciplined, well-funded, and had a moderate background that appealed to independents. He was, in short, the very best the Republicans had to offer in the year 2012.

This was not a fantasy, either. It was an accurate assessment. Romney was the best they had. The very best.

Let that sink in for a bit.

And he doesn't have the cojones to back off and renounce the nutcase wing of his own party.

So he's sort of between a shit and a sweat.

that I read all the lies and vicious insults he flung at PBO during the primaries. He was just a bigger maggot with more money.

He'll be doing the same at the Debates with the president only this time Obama will be there to answer him to his sneering smirking moochocrat face.

Huntsman dropped out just before Romney started making his many, many gaffes and making moderates nervous - had Huntsman had the funds for another month he might have started getting traction as Romney increasingly revealed himself to be a liability.

Not to mention the Queen Bee, herself. Anyone in the people business can spot a fake and a phony pretty quick. IMHO, they dropped away in the order of their intelligence.

Ignorance won. The rest are awaiting 2016.

Romney stole his position as "sane, generic Republican" and didn't even give him the VP nom.

He claims he would be in the lead now if he had been their nominee.
