Why is a lifelong government freeloader like Ryan running as an outsider?

Besides lying about every subject, he's also a thundering hypocrite. He went to college using Social Security, started working for Congress while in college, and has been collecting taxpayer checks ever since. Since he was 18 he's never made a dime that didn't come from the taxpaying Americans. Why won't anyone in Big Media or among the Dem campaign staff ever mention this?

And, at this point, retaining Ryan's mantle of being the intellectual leader of the party is probably the only thing they can hope to salvage from the Romney campaign.
