Bernie's latest ad plays to hope. Hillary's latest plays to fear

One ad, to the humming and harmonies of the Simon and Garfunkel song “America,” shows Americans working, farming and excitedly flocking by the thousands to see Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont on the campaign trail. Hope, it projects.

Another ad shows the White House, the rubble of ground zero, a fighter jet taking off from an aircraft carrier and snapshots from Hillary Clinton’s career: reading to children as the first lady and staring down President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia as the secretary of state. Experience, it projects.

The ad plays heavily on Democratic fears: Donald J. Trump is shown shouting at one of his campaign rallies. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas is shown aiming an assault weapon at a shooting range. Each Republican symbolizes the threat if Mrs. Clinton is not there to defeat him as the Democratic nominee.

<snip>

Titled “America,” the ad was made by Tad Devine, Mr. Sanders’s senior strategist. It will stand out in a broadcast advertising market cluttered with deep-voiced narrators delivering somber warnings, harsh attacks and swaggering boasts.

Democrats are better than Republicans at overcoming fear and embracing hope and a positive future for all aren't they?!?!

I think they are both good. Hillary's is more substantive and talks issues. Bernie's is fluff about pony's and calf's. They are both fine. Hillary's makes a bigger impression.

It was just a standard "I'm ready for the job" ad. Closing argument type stuff.

...visuals, give my goose bumps goose bumps. It imbues the hope and change fervor that the Obama campaigns did and which swept him into the presidency by huge margins, twice. Americans need hope and yearn for change that improves their lives. Bernie's ad elicits the hope we have for a better future.

The Hillary one, though very good, seems clinical and ominous. And she's not "staring down" Putin in that video, by the way.

All in all, both are good for describing the vision of America both candidates would like see.
