(24,411 posts)She made fun of his pretty speeches, big rallies and celebrity-like status, and she basically scolded us and told us that it was time to get down to business and select a real candidate who had experience.
That worked SO well for her in 2008.

(26,449 posts)That staff continually say shit like this is just unacceptable.
The other thing is that since it was delivered with teleprompting, we know it was wordsmithed for impact. Then to have someone say shake some sense into someone, that's a rather violent expression. Once upon a time it was literally done usually to a kid or a woman, occasionally even today kids are shaken with dire consequences for the kid.

Clinton a Hover-Girl in 'Hill-o-copter
COUNCIL BLUFFS, IOWA Hillary Rodham Clinton rose far above her opponents yesterday, despite struggling in the polls, as she whirled around the frozen plains of Iowa in a private helicopter.
Im actually even going to get into a helicopter after I leave you, she told the audience yesterday. Were calling it a Hill-o-copter, and were going to be able to cover more ground that way.

I missed that story back then.
She does some strange things when she's feeling desperate.

(24,411 posts)The entire state of Iowa basically laughed her out of the sky.
This was her answer to lifting her sagging polls.
No one here got it.
I never knew about this!
And the last line in the article...
"Icy landing strips have grounded the swanky corporate jets usually favored by Clinton and her husband."
They make me sick.

Clinton Gets Sarcastic, Mocks Obama
Speaking to a crowd at Rhode Island College, Clinton said, "None of the problems we face will be easily solved," and then went on to mock Obama's message of unity.
Now, I could stand up here and say, Lets just get everybody together. Lets get unified,'" Clinton said to laughter of the crowd.
"The skies will open, the light will come down, celestial choirs will be singing and everyone will know we should do the right thing and the world will be perfect, she said dryly as the crowd erupted.
Maybe Ive just lived a little long, but I have no illusions about how hard this is going to be," Clinton continued. "You are not going to wave a magic wand to make special interests disappear."
Sound familiar?

(2,346 posts)we have had her presented in a grandmother role, currently its a motherly role
my guess is the next incarnation will be a tsundere sister or daughter role
and to save people looking up the word, the term tsundere tends to refer to a person who 'runs hot and cold', shifting between the two distinct moods: tsuntsun (aloof or irritable) and deredere (sweet or kind)
.

(16,254 posts)As an elderly Iowan, I have made up my mind. I will caucus for Sanders. I sure as hell don't need any candidate telling me I need her to shake some sense into me. I have a mind of my own and have used it to some degree of success in voting and in life.
Didn't she learn her lesson from 2008 when she pulled the same crap with Obama? I didn't appreciate it then and I don't appreciate it now.
Maybe some tears in New Hampshire will help her with a win, but I'd say she just blew her wad for Iowans.

(26,449 posts)However, it does speak volumes about the nature of the culture in her campaign. Not only did they flat out state the speech was designed to manipulate Iowa voters, but to imply they are out of their senses while making that admission is a rather suboptimal strategy.

(20,846 posts)When she asked voters follow their heads and not their hearts. (as interpreted by David Axlerod) That's the same sort of condescending expression as "shaking the sense" into someone.
Going negative never works for her. I can't believe she's running the 2008 playbook again.

(35,619 posts)...if an article quoted an unnamed "adviser" to Bernie Sanders saying something stupid, I wouldn't blame Sanders.
A person can say, "I'm an adviser" without having ever been hired by a campaign. Dozens of people can describe themselves as unpaid campaign advisers. Not the same as being a campaign spokesperson.

(1,572 posts)As one who attended a college with an NCAA Division III ranking in Iowa, Simpson College in Indianola (of all places) is about the LEAST strategic place to make a stand during the critical moment leading up to the caucus. This signifies a campaign that is flailing, strategically speaking. So out of touch, so remote, so sad.
Further confirmation of this came tonight when my wife and I (both registered Democrats) finally made it to the post office after work. It had been nearly a week so the mail was dense. Between us (I committed to the Bern, she uncommitted but leaning) we received 6 mailings from Bernie--and NONE from Hilary. That sealed the deal. While this is scant evidence, I'm fairly confident in saying that Bernie's small-donor, grassroots organization is out-organizing and burying HRC in Iowa.
If it come to it I will embrace Hillary in November. As for now I'll fight tooth and nail for a higher justice!
