NEBRASKA: Obama TIED with Romney in 2nd District

PUBLISHED SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 23, 2012

(Wiese Research)

Obama 44%

Romney 44%

2nd District could be blue again

The survey showed the president again has a chance of winning an electoral vote in the Omaha-based 2nd Congressional District, with the district split at 44 percent each for Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney.

The poll was conducted Sept. 17-20 by Wiese Research Associates of Omaha. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

In 2008, Obama wasn't too far behind McCain in District 1.

NE 1st Dist.

Obama: 121,468
McCain: 148,179

I think the NE 2nd, Indiana, and NC are all going to go back to being red.

Yes, it maybe. I think Indiana is definitely gone. North Carolina is a big maybe.

My opinion is you put all the volunteer resources you can there and try to win it, but if I were the Obama campaign I wouldn't spend any substantial amount of money for on 1 EV.

I wasn't suggesting that Obama was going to win the state of Nebraska itself.

I would point out though that in this same Nebraska poll, Romney is polling 4 points below John McCain's 15-point Nebraska margin in 2008. Romney is only up 11 points overall.

While that doesn't mean he's going to lose Nebraska, it could be indicative of a weaker level of support that will show up in other regions of the country.

I would imagine some of Nebraska gets some of Iowa's stations. I've been to Lincoln twice, but that was a long time ago so I don't remember much.

I did get to stand out on the big "N" on the University of Nebraska field.
