2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWow, things sure have changed since I was gone.
With the solidification of Bernie Sanders as a real threat to Hillary Clinton, the Hillary Camp and her supporters have predictably revived the old memes of not caring about black people, being a socialist/communist, and even go so far as to preposterously suggest that he doesn't know how the Supreme Court works.
Meanwhile, we see that Hillary's support in Iowa is dropping precipitously to the point where even a free concert by Demi Lovato draws more mockery than it does people.
In fact, if her campaign was the movie "Spinal Tap", Iowa would be the part where the band receives the billing "Puppet Show and Spinal Tap", and her supporter's comforting words to themselves that Iowa means nothing reminds me of nothing so much as the band manager saying "Don't worry about Boston. It's not a big college town."
http://www.dailyiowanepi.com/2016/01/21/sanders-supporters-out-in-droves-at-clintons-iowa-city-rally/
"UI student Jackson Skiles, 19, showed up at 5 p.m. for the rally because a famous face was stopping by.
I just figured theres someone famous here, why not go see them, said Skiles, who is from Cedar Falls. Surrounded by a group of friends who said they, like him, will caucus for Sanders, Skiles said Clinton no longer speaks to our generation.
Yes, things sure have changed and although the odds are still against us, they have never been better. It seems that Hillary's support can only be moving in one direction, and that is down. But then again, so many people had said this before. As well known as she was, she had nowhere to go but down. Sanders, on the other hand, seems to pick up more and more momentum as people get to know him. It is indeed a real race now and things are not looking very good for Hillary at all.

So speaking of her tanking numbers in Iowa...an article a day or two ago, talking about how unhappy Wild Willie is with her campaign...and was urging them to now concentrate on the Super Tuesday states.
I guess Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada can just be kissed goodbye!
Looks more to me like the entire Trainwreck Campaign should be kissed goodbye.

(975 posts)And then he realized they were losing so they shifted to ST states.
The really bad part is Clinton didn't have staff in any of the 11 states and Bernie already had people on the ground.
There's an article floating around DU which pointed out that mistake. I prefer to call it arrogance and incompetence. A bad combination for sure.

(975 posts)The video in the OP I posted sort of explains the arrogance part.
And also tells you why she didn't think she needed to work for it. Basically it was her turn. Total incompetence all the way around. Worth the watch regardless.

I think she would really be a bad choice to be our candidate. A dangerous choice that would give the WH to the Republicans.
I said it over and over. Those negatives need to be heeded. They are the kiss of death.

(975 posts)Her numbers are sinking like a stone. Down 9 in Iowa. Down 27 in NH. Up 4 in Nevada. And even in SC she's only up by 18 where she was up 40 a few weeks ago.
If she loses the nomination her demise will likely be from throwing Democrats under the bus on Medicare for All. 80% of the party supported that idea. She rejected it without a discussion. Then we found out she took $2.8M from the insurance companies and that was it. She couldn't have done more harm if she tried.
How bad did it hurt her. She lost 38pts on who do you trust on Health Care. That was in Iowa alone. No telling how many she lost in liberal NH. Just the strangest week in my 30 years with the party. smh
That gif on your page gives me the shakes every time I see it. Well done.

(4,377 posts)With stuff that like that. One of them just got a hide for calling Bernie and all his supporters left wing versions of Trump.
PatrickforO
(14,570 posts)Of course, I haven't seen it, but allow me to explain lest I get anyone worked up.
If you look at the political situation this year, we see a profound anger at the status quo. The heavily armed, homophobic, xenophobic, racist, anti-abortion, fundy fanatics have gone over to Trump because he offers them a vent for their anger and hatred against the government, which they perceive as 'the enemy' after exposure to decades of successful right wing propaganda through Fox 'news' and hate-talk radio. But they are in fact profoundly angry at the status quo.
Bernie supporters are generally sane. At least I like to toy with the idea that I'm sane. We have identified the enemy, I believe correctly, as the capitalist oligarchs, and are every bit as angry at the status quo as the duck dynasty types. We're just for Bernie because, as I'm sure you'll agree, we believe he cares about us, and about our kitchen table issues. Speaking for myself, I support every solution Bernie has advanced.
So am I a left-wing version of a Trump supporter?
I wouldn't have said it that way, but yes, I believe I am. The difference here is that I don't want to kill people who disagree, suspend the Constitution or any of that nonsense. But I'll sure be part of the political revolution Bernie is calling for.
A last word - a caveat, actually. If Trump wins, look for a fast move to fascism complete with a new concentration camp archipelago, deportations, krystallnicht, nicht and nebel and the whole bit. If this nation goes fascist and they loose the dogs of war as we know they will, the world itself may not survive. The stakes are that high.
Vote Bernie!

Let me guess, Hillary supporter?
I used to support Hillary when she was in congress, and I learned a very long consistent lesson. She just kept voting against the dem issues. Nancy Pelosi did the same. After watching that for years I realized she's a consistent DINO. What I don't understand is how anybody else didn't watch and find her out loud and clear, while she was in congress.
I also remember her spending years trying to talk us into a war with Iran. She picked up right where Condolezza left off.
Am I the only person who remembers those years? That doesn't seem right. This site should have people who were dems for decades on it.
