After all, if one votes for all the Democrats on the ticket, that vote includes the top of the ticket. I could be wrong; just guessing. I've never been to Texas and certainly know nothing of their elections.

he is currently as we speak in NC having meetings with Pastors to get people these voter ID's and to tell them about what is going on as to them voting in November. My plan would be to get as many democrats to vote early if you live in a state that has early voting

Early voting begins on Oct. 22nd. Nobody has voting by machine yet for this election. Nobody's vote has been rejected.

And nobody has voted by machine here and won't until October 22nd, so no real votes have been kicked out. Is that hard to understand? If you heard about the results of machines being tested, then say so.

If you try to vote for president and then also choose straight ticket, that might cause an issue. The voter might need to either select a candidate for every single race or choose a candidate for president as part of the straight ticket and not separately. You can't vote on any race with one click on straight Dem and then try to also vote on a single election. That may be what they're trying to say.

Otherwise, I have no clue what the OP is claiming. I've never had a problem voting here. I don't straight ticket with one click. I like the satisfaction of voting on every single race.

i had to clear it to go thru the ticket cause there was a repug judge i wanted to vote against, and had to vote libertarian for that race, to at least get a vote against him. it would not let me click on the races that had no dem. i had to do it all individually.

It's more a matter of letting voters know the mechanism. The machines are programmed to reject double - voted races. When you enter a vote for any race individually and then mark a straight ticket, the machine sees two votes for the race you marked individually. (It could be for county dogcatcher as easily as for president.) In fact it happens most often when the single race that's marked individually is intended for a candidate in the other party than the otherwise straight ticket vote. The machine sees that as a double vote and rejects the ballot. Generally, the ballot gets spit out for the voter to fix. (Even the paperless machines should call the voter's attention to the problem
so you can fix it before it's finalized.

If the voter doesn't fix the ballot before it's recorded, no vote will be recorded for the unintentionally double voted ballot unless there's a hand recount and the state mandates that voter intent rules if it can be determined. Same goes when a voter both marks the vote for a candidate.and then writes in the candidate's name on the write in line.

Did Al Sharpton provide evidence that this occurs? I'm just wondering...or if it's still a rumor. We don't have printouts, so we really have no way of knowing who we've voted for. My attempts at questioning this have fallen on deaf ears, BTW.

24. Not so sure

First, I do not recommend using an electronic ballot. There is absolutely no way to verify a count is not accurate. A paper ballot leaves a record in case of a recount. I only vote paper ballots.
I work the polls in texas and if there is a problem with a machine, it is supposed to be shut down. I will be paying attention when I vote to be sure. The procedure for straight ticket is that when you vote straight ticket, the presidents box is checked automatically. If you choose anyone from another party in any race, that choice supersedes the straight ticket. So, you can start with a straight ticket and change any individual race. The voting machine will not let you pick 2 from any category. so I can't see how a person can vote twice for one person. the review page at the end verifies your votes before you post your ballot.
