Hillary Clinton Would Consider Appointing President Obama to Supreme Court

Last edited Tue Jan 26, 2016, 11:54 PM - Edit history (1)

A second Clinton administration could mean a future Justice Barack Obama.

At a campaign event in Deocorah, Iowa on Tuesday, Hillary Clinton lit up when a voter asked her if she would consider appointing the president to the Supreme Court should she win the White House.

"Wow, what a great idea. No one has ever suggested that to me, I love that, wow," the Democratic presidential candidate responded. "He may have a few other things to do but I tell you that's a great idea."

Clinton went on to talk about how the next president could have to appoint up to three Supreme Court justices, but she then circled back.

6. Well it'd be the one elected in 2016+ but yes. Even assuming Republicans regain control

of the Senate after 2016 enough Republican senators would cross over to vote in favor
of former Senator Obama. He's unlikely to be nominated though of course.

10. There are still reasonable Republican Senators in the house. I think they would

be embarrassed not to confirm her. Really, what would be their argument? Their big argument would be abortion but EVERY Democratic president would nominate a supporter of Roe v Wade.

I would like to see Obama continue in government service, but over the years of his admin, I'm not sure where he stands on a number of crucial issues that are important to me and many Bernie supporters.

13. Gotta be honest. I am suspicious of her motives in this.

In view of her recent high praise of President Obama's policies, which she hasn't been so enthusiastic about before, I think she may be trying to butter him up. I suspect that she may be trying to stay on his good side in the hope that he will prevent an indictment or perhaps grant a pardon later, if she needs it. Basically, I think she is trying to stay out of jail.
