Michele Bachmann's Seat in Peril As House Race Tightens

Michele Bachmann Goes From Presidential Primaries to Reelection Dogfight

Michele Bachmann's Seat in Peril As House Race Tightens

It's all added up to a closer race than anyone could have expected. In recent weeks, the Rothenberg Political Report shifted their characterization from "Safe Republican" to "Republican Favored."

But even with her opponent appearing to gain momentum, Bachmann will take comfort in the electorate's new demographics.

Redistricting done this year pushed urban areas east of St. Paul, with their Democratic-leaning voters, off Bachmann's map, while adding to the western suburbs where Republicans traditionally score big, boosting the incumbent's built-in advantages. Graves, meanwhile, is banking on big support from hometown St. Cloud, the district's largest city, and the estimated 27,000 college students eligible to vote in November. <more>

Bachmann is standing on the edge, only needs a gust of wind. Donate to Graves!!

If they wanted to re-district her (and it's a Democrat Governor/Legislature in MN, I believe), they should have given her a less favorable district.

Unfortunately she still has the edge.

"Minnesota was one of the last big question marks in the redistricting process, after nearly a year of being in a holding pattern caused by a deadlock between Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton and the Republican-held legislature. That led to a court-drawn map."

Of course, the seat itself is not in peril, merely the currant occupant of it! Hopefully, the impact of a dispirited Romney campaign (higher % of GOP non-voters) in an otherwise blue state will shift the race in Graves' favor.

They scored big alright. The stimulus gave the Republicans a brand new fiber optic loop that brings our internets into the 21st century.

I too gave $20 to Jim Graves. Bachman is an embarrassment to the sane people in Minnesota. She does not have the time to represent the people in her district because of her numerous interests. Working very hard to demonize Muslims, GLBT people, and all those who believe in separation of Church and State. Flying on broomstick to various Tea party functions and gatherings of religiofascists all over this nation gives her little time to address the real needs of the people.

I predict that a Bachman loss would become a sweep of the republicans in the Minnesota house and senate. We have several people in and seeking offices at state level who are running because Bachman inspires them. Inspires them which I find sickening.

then you automatically forfeit the position you currently hold.

So fuckface Paul Ryan would have forfeited his position as Congressman in WI.
