Culinary Union says the matter has been resolved

http://lasvegassun.com/news/2016/jan/28/staffers-for-bernie-sanders-accused-of-posing-as-c/

Jan. 28, 2016

Staffers from Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders’ campaign posed as Culinary Union workers to gain access to employee-only areas at several Strip hotels, the campaign has confirmed.

The union said Thursday morning that it had received multiple reports of the staffers accessing the employee dining rooms of at least four properties by wearing yellow union buttons. Thursday evening, Sanders’ campaign manager, Jeff Weaver, confirmed that campaign organizers had entered the dining rooms and said the campaign reminded staffers Thursday that the behavior was “not appropriate and that they should not do it again.”

“In addition, I have spoken with the political director of the Culinary Union to express the campaign’s regret at this having occurred and our support of the union’s fight for workers’ rights,” he said in a statement. “The political director was extremely gracious and we are glad to have this resolved.”

The union said it had spoken with the campaign and that the situation has been resolved, a change of tune from earlier in the day when the union had condemned the reports.

In other words, while there was a story here, it is the proverbial tempest in a teapot. The whole thing lasted less than 8 hours from the time the story broke to its cordial resolution.

Some of the comments are interesting too:

In 2008 when we had a Nevada caucus, Bill Clinton had access to every kitchen and food prep area in every unionized casino on the Strip, so that he could "walk precincts" to support his wife's candidacy. Dollars to doughnuts Bill is going to do his kitchen walk again this year. As a result I find the fools-for-Hillary more than disingenuous in whining about Sanders campaigners doing the same thing Bill Clinton does.

This article is full of innuendo and lacking in substance, designed only to create an emotional response against one of the Democratic caucus candidates. It's a huge tell that the R-J isn't running this "news story," given you know they would otherwise love to paint Dems, and unions in general, in a bad light.

Is the Greenspun family so scared that its preferred candidate will lose in Iowa and New Hampshire that it needs to start sliming its opponents here as a preventative measure? I smell fear, establishment fear.

Weak tea, gentlemen. You can fight your corner honorably, or you can alienate some voters you'll need in the general election.

Nevada Spanish-language publications Ahora Latino Journal, El Reportero and Tú Revista Latina endorsed Bernie Sanders

“His concern has always been for all people suffering from inequality and lack of opportunities. That is one of the great appeals to him. He sees all people just as humans. That’s why we support his policies.” Mario de la Rosa (Ahora publisher and editor)

There was only one blatantly anti-Sanders comment, calling him Dirty Sanders. Ugh.

If Sanders can't control his staffers, he shouldn't be running for POTUS.

a "pattern" that has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the issues in this campaign, and
you damned well know it.

You guys can't stick with the issues, because you then you lose; and I think voters are becoming
smart enough to see through this kind of crap, and stay focused on what really matters to THEM.

Just saying. One of these things is child's play and one of these things is very serious.

I felt certain that this incident signaled the end to Sanders' campaign.

Honest to god, I wonder how certain people can even look at themselves in the mirror at night.
