Related: About this forumBernie Sanders supporters getting Ugly online
http://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-trending-35422316Passionate support for presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has propelled him into a close race with fellow Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. But some say that support has turned aggressive and abusive online.
After the 25 January Democratic town hall, Emily Nussbaum, television critic for the New Yorker magazine, tweeted some positive feedback for Hillary Clinton.
"I'm into Hillary, obviously, but I genuinely thought she did really well tonight," Ms Nussbaum wrote.
About a half an hour later, she followed up with this: "Man, the Feel The Bern crew (as opposed to Bern himself) is such a drag. Say anything pro-Hil & they yell 'bitch' & 'psycho.' V idealistic!"
Others - including a number of prominent members of the media - followed with their own reports of seeing Sanders supporters deploying vicious rhetoric towards anyone questioning the Vermont senator or his backers.
Author Sady Doyle said her tweets about Sanders supporters resulted in "several hundred angry notifications in a 24-hour span from that cohort," she wrote. "Someone also said *I* should die if I thought some Bernie supporters were kinda sexist."

(443 posts)Hearsay, in other words. Not only is there no prima facie evidence backing the claims, there is also no evidence that the alleged perpetrators are in fact supporters of the Bernie 2016 campaign.
This is good reason to ignore such claims.

(2,872 posts)that Bernie's "supporters" in Nevada were actually supporters, or that a mailer with AARP's logo on it exists, or that he's a racist. So hey. Business as usual out of Camp Weathervane. Can't you hear the squeaking dissonance of the figurehead?

Personally, living through Tricky Dick's and Hoover's antics once was enough.

(12,504 posts)Sanders Supporters have a reputation in the cyber world. They deny and ignore, never ever truthfully address the problem. I'm actually fine with all of that. It turns a lot of people off when the thrashing, swarming, rude, obnoxious is so obvious. Thanks Sanders supporters, you make my work so much easier.

(2,872 posts)wow, if I let my focus lapse a little, that sounds almost like a Blink-182 song title.

(2,125 posts)Whenever I read a news article which includes the words "some say", you can rest assured whatever claim being made is a bogus talking point. If you have the goods, you don't resort to such sloppy journalism.
Didn't Jon Stewart do a piece on this? Something like "Some people say your momma's a whore..."

(46,179 posts)What has been ugly all along is the continuous attacks on Sanders supporters by Clinton supporters and the Clinton campaign.
I'm sorry that she can't compete on issues with Sanders or generate the kind of enthusiasm Sanders does, but the bitterness reflects poorly on those expressing it, not on those they are attacking.

(2,052 posts)I'm a woman supporting Bernie, and I hate that everyone is using this excuse (including me) but people are straight up angry. Our country was founded on fighting tyranny. People are feeling that same fire right now. And in 2016 we don't tar and feather people or take them out into the public square. We sit at a screen and vent anonymously at our fellow Americans. We may be on the same side, but philosophically many of us are NOT on the same side. Thus, this campaign has been very ugly for Dems and Rethugs

(15,435 posts)have, we're just part of "we the people" in this country called citizens, THE PEN can write and people will read what you say. Some choose to believe what they read, some don't. Speculation, innuendo, someone said, I heard this, I saw this should be taken with a grain of salt.
