Clinton Will Support TPP After Election says top lobbyist

Chamber of Commerce Lobbyist Tom Donohue: Clinton Will Support TPP After Election

In an interview from Davos with Bloomberg TV on January 20, Chamber of Commerce President Tom Donohue, a top lobbyist for the pro-corporate-power Trans-Pacific Partnership [TPP] agreement, assured viewers that if Hillary Clinton wins the Presidential election, Clinton will support the TPP, even though she opposes it now.

Reporting on the interview, Inside U.S. Trade noted:

The Chamber president said he expected Hillary Clinton would ultimately support the TPP if she becomes the Democratic nominee for president and is elected. He argued that she has publicly opposed the deal chiefly because her main challenger, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), has also done so. "If she were to get nominated, if she were to be elected, I have a hunch that what runs in the family is you get a little practical if you ever get the job," he said.

Donohue also said TPP will not be voted on prior to the election because Senate Republicans do not want to do anything that could jeopardize Republican Senators in close races. But he said he believed there was a 75 percent chance that TPP would get done in the lame-duck session after the election.

so, to clinton and clinton supporters...where is the statement damming this accusation? just to remind everyone, here is bernie on tpp

Congress is now debating fast track legislation that will pave the way for the disastrous Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) unfettered free trade agreement. At a time when our middle class is disappearing and the gap between the very rich and everyone else is growing wider, this anti-worker legislation must be defeated.

I think even most of HRC's supporters know she would eventually support the TPP. For many of HRC's supporters that's not even a bad thing.

to Americans that this won't happen. If she's against tpp now, she shouldn't get slippery if she gets elected prez.

You want to know why a tRump even EXISTS in this race? Because he "acts" like he will protect labor from unfair trade.

Voters know democrats failed this country's workforce with these trade agreements. They know.

And of course she will support the TPP. She traveled all over the world, shilling for it.

And - I will never vote for anyone who supports the TPP, who shilled for the TPP, who voted for Fast Track, and who votes for the TPP, TPIP, and the other corporate giveaways. Never.

For example, her top strategist is Joel Benenson who is CEO and founder of Benenson Strategy Group. Have a look at their clients:

I also heard Bloomberg Politics report that Michael Whouley has been dispatched to Iowa to help her campaign. He is traveling the state with Bill Clinton. He is co-founder of Dewey Square Group. Have a look at what they've been up to:

They know that Republican voters don't want it.

They know that Democratic voters don't want it, that's why Hillary has to run on a position against what she had called the gold standard.

In short: Everyone knows the people don't want it, and they're planning to do it anyway, whether in Obama's lame duck period, or with the new President, whether Hillary or a Republican.

How can anyone not see how everything is rigged toward the monied interests?

Maybe Sanders can't fix it, but sure as heck Hillary isn't even going to try.
