Akin: McCaskill was more ladylike in 06
That sound you hear is the NRSC groaning
By Jillian Rayfield
No sooner had mainstream GOP forces started to inch back toward Todd legitimate rape Akin when he managed to remind everyone why they backed off in the first place.
Bloomberg reports that at a press conference in Jefferson City, Mo. Akin said that in 2006, when McCaskill beat out Republican Sen. Jim Talent, she had a confidence and was very much more sort of ladylike.
In the debate we had Friday, she came out swinging, and I think thats because she was threatened, Akin said.
The McCaskill campaign had no comment.

(2,940 posts)He thinks he's complimenting 2006 McCaskill, but I'd take "came out swinging" over "ladylike" as a compliment any day.

(160,450 posts)Todd Akin says McCaskill debated like a 'wildcat,' not as 'ladylike'

ROLLA, Mo. -- Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin compared the recent debate performance of Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill to that of a "wildcat," saying she is worried about her re-election chances.
McCaskill came on strong during their first debate last week,(LINK TO KIM) criticizing Akin's earlier suggestion that pregnancy "rarely" results from "legitimate rape" because women's bodies have a way of shutting down conception. McCaskill said his views were extreme and out of the mainstream.
"The first two minutes, wow, it's like somebody let a wildcat out of the cage," Akin told a small group of supporters and activists as his statewide bus tour stopped Wednesday evening in Rolla, a rural college town between St. Louis and Springfield. "She was just furious and attacking in every different direction, which was a little bit of a surprise to us."
~snip~
But as the party's chances dim for picking up the seats needed to win majority control of the Senate, top conservative Republicans have announced they would back Akin with endorsements and financial support.

And it's time for Obama & the media to start asking Romney/Ryan every day whether they tolerate this type of behavior.
Make them accountable!!

(13,992 posts)In Akin's world, does being "more ladylike" make one more or less likely to be "legitimately raped"?
I'm confused.

(53,410 posts)That's the oldest trick in the book when it comes to making women tow the line. It's used on little girls when they 'act up' or want to play sports rather than play with their dolls, or who are smarter than boys. They start that particular criticism when girls are very young.
Fuck him. He's a dinosaur. A fast fading relic of the not so good old days.
