FL Dem Party Statement on Florida GOP Voter Registration Fraud

Tallahassee, FL — Following the news today that at "least 10 counties have identified suspicious and possibly fraudulent voter registration forms turned in by a firm working for the Republican Party of Florida," the Florida Democratic Party issued the following statement:

STATEMENT FROM FLORIDA DEMOCRATIC PARTY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SCOTT ARCENEAUX:

"With each passing day, the depth of the Republican Party of Florida voter registration fraud scandal grows. One thing is clear: Floridians have a right to know how many fraudulent voter registration applications have been turned in by the Republican Party of Florida.

"Furthermore, it is clear that the Republican Party of Florida does not have the institutional controls in place to be trusted as a third party voter registration organization. Until such a time that an investigation is complete, the state should immediately revoke the Republican Party of Florida's third party voter registration license."

should inform their citizens that they should check their voter status and make sure they are registered, even if they filled out a form.

They might even check their deceased relative's status. Sounds like some of them might have also been registered. Sheesh! What's this country coming to?

paid for by the repiglicans who hired the firm. I think this firm has been in trouble before for this kind of shit, so there is little doubt that they knew exactly what they were getting. And outside of being caught, the firm was doing exactly as it was paid to do.

their own mess. Elections have consequences. If you sit at home and whine and bitch and then don't vote in order to "protest" the lack of purity, which is just what happened in 2010, then don't bitch when the corrupt RePukes get in, take over completely, and destroy your fucking state. FLORIDIANS need to challenge this shit in court and sue the RePUKES like hell.

I was so furious in November 2010. Why couldn't just 1% more of the people have voted for her? Then we wouldn't have Rick Scott and all this mess.

In half of the Statehouse and State Senate seats, Republicans go unchallenged. The only people who get funded and support, are a few inside cronies. Local parties are octogenarian social clubs, full of people who want to hang onto titles, but do no work.

If they intended for people to vote, they'd give them candidates.

I'm with you.
Lets blame the victims!
It just feels so much better than doing something that actually addresses the problem.

Party Leadership is responsible for LEADING,
and it looks like they may be stepping up in this case.
Lets encourage THEM to do their jobs, protect the vote,
and give Florida Democrats a reason to turn out.

you have a clue about Florida and you've certainly forgotten your history and geography. This is still a southern state with the exception of Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade Counties, and some small enclaves around Tallahassee, Orlando and Tampa the state is red-neck Red. 2010 was no different in FL than any other state...FL did not lose the House all by itself. Furthermore Jeb Bush really did a job on the state. He was the very first Republican governor EVER to win a second term in FL...since then the state has elected then Rep Charlie Crist (Jeb's designated heir) and now Rick Scott...Voter rolls have been purged, people who should be allowed to vote can't, former felons have been all but permanently disenfranchised and yes the Democratic Party here sucks.

Marco Rubio won in a three-way race garnering slightly less than 48.9% of the vote...Charlie Crist took 29.7% and Meek 20.2...even without Crist, Rubio would have won because Meek just didn't appeal to voters...Crist pulled more Democrats from Meek than anyone expected. Sorry to say but Florida is just not ready for an African American who can't make his subject and verbs agree...Not fair, I know

Allen West was elected because Ron Klein thought there was no way he could lose to such a clown...he (Klein) forgot a few things...not least of which is that some African Americans will simply vote for the Black guy...I was appalled when I realized West was going to be my representative, but Klein ran a sloppy, indeed lazy campaign, and his ads were all about West and his Biker Buddies...no substance, nothing to convince people there was any reason not to vote for West. My Republican former husband, and all of his republican friends voted for West and would do so again if he were still running in this district.

It was not about the whining...it was about a lousy Democratic party apparatus that has allowed the repukes to take over the state. Even with all that, Democrat Alex Sink lost the governors race by just 1%...

so difficult.

They were the ones who imposed the crazy regulations that let to so many non-partisan groups (like the League of Women Voters) from registering voters in Florida. It is ridiculous that I had to sit through a training session to become certified through OFA to register voters (the fines are so extensive that most groups were afraid to take the hit) but the GOP is up to all kinds of bs.

This being Florida and our government being what it is, I have little hope that this will be addressed by the state but the GOP should be fined massively based on their own laws.

I guess AG Holder will eventually get around to writing a strongly-worded letter, after he's done busting pot-smoking grannies and warrantless eavesdropping on US citizens.

Turn in fraudulent registrations
Claim the firm that did it was unreliable. (Bad apple defense)
Start the propaganda campaign
See. We told you. We need stronger voter registration laws.
