Obama Campaign says 'Don't expect zingers'

Obama Campaign Says Don't Expect Zingers
President Obama's re-election campaign said the president "likely won't be flinging barbs during this week's presidential debate," CNN reports.

Said spokeswoman Jen Psaki: "If you're expecting that, that's probably not what he's going to deliver."

Psaki was referring to reports that Mitt Romney was "working on zingers" and memorizing short attack lines to fire off at the president during Wednesday's debate in Denver.

I read that somewhere recently, that US voters aren't as dumb
as the GOP assumes they are.

Many of the smarter people, who aren't rich, are already voting for Obama. The ones who aren't voting for him are "gamblers" who want to believe that Mitt can do better. Oh, and folks who oppose abortion and same-sex marriage. It's not that they aren't smart. They are religious conservatives and those are deal-breakers for them.

I would love to see some breakdown of what the undecideds will be basing their ultimate decision on.

I don't know if Romney serious plans to make this a Zinger-fest. That could have been a diversionary tactic to cause Obama to waste preparation time on heckler management techniques.

Obama's response is a shot across the bow to let Romney know there is a serious risk in going with zingers. If Obama can frame this as a very serious moment in American history requiring the clear and honest thinking of our best minds, Romney risks coming across as juvenile and not sufficiently serious for the moment.

using every opportunity to make the debate a comparison of his policies vs. Romney's -- even though Romney wants it just to be all focused on Obama and his "failures."
