Yes, Bernie is taking over the Party

And, Yes, it will become a much more leftist party which improves upon and strengthens the socialism on which this country thrives.

The party's powers that be, are quite disturbed, and are becoming increasingly upset with the Bernie supporters who have little regard for them and the elites' corrupt ways.

It is a new day for the Democratic Party, and soon to be seen in the results from the New Hampshire break out. The Iowa results, where Bernie came from 50 points down, was quite alarming to the elites and they see what's coming.

They are truly Feeling the Bern!

Tue Feb 9, 2016, 06:08 PM

Just saying socialism is not what Bernie is or what we are as a nation. We have the freedom to decide who controls the means of production and in what areas. It's harder to place a communistic innuendo around the term socialism when you put democratic in front of it. Democratic Socialism is the only form of government which both ensures our freedom AND our survival by coming together to make sure the things we all need to survive are not controlled by one or two greedy oligarchs (like water). We decide, We vote, We join together to ensure our tranquility and our general welfare.

And the thought of it is quite pleasing, eh?

Bernie as the president will take charge of the party as much as one person can. Of course it is the People who will tell the tale in the long run, because the People are the party.

All our best leftist leaders have been ... well ... somehow or another, removed. The lack of leftist leaders has left a vacuum which we imagined Obama was going to fill. The People did respond, did they not?

Truly, now, in Bernie, we have a left leader than we can rally around and get on with the business of creating a more perfect union. Sell not short the idea that we need a leader, just remember that a leader is nothing without a following,

We have a contest. And winning a primary or a caucus is good for one side and bad for the other -- but no one State is going to decide this primary election.

I have to note that I have seen a whole lot of crowing about polls on this site for the last six months, and I know I got laughed at repeatedly when I would try to ask such crowers to get real about polling months before the voting. My very favorite example is one happy soul who offered to bet their life on Hillary's ultimate victory.

Whew. I don't know if I'd invoke the Faust story for my side of anything -- but, hell, it is just politics.

I also concede that a lot of Bernie supporters can be that way, too. Assuming the polling from New Hampshire holds up, my side will get to have the fun of winning something -- and there will probably be some crowing. Not cool in my book.

Of all the ways for us to mix it up about our different candidates, I have to say crowing in either direction is pretty damned dumb.

After all, from the very first, we early Bernie supporters were denigrated, told there was no chance, that we were hurting the party... on and on and on.

We did not get here by being shrinking violets. We got here by crowing that Bernie can and would, and that someone like Bernie was just what the doctor ordered for an ill-democracy.

Really, we fought crowing with crowing. And here we are, still, and about to be fledged and begin a wonderful flight.

Our current system makes soliciting money an integral part of winning and holding office. That is just perverse, and I don't care how S.O.P or entrenched it is. We need publicly financed elections, period. Sanders' refusal to form a Super-PAC is laudable, and a shining example, but it also means that my email box is cluttered with requests from his campaign (as well as others) for donations. It shouldn't be that way.

75. Ralph Nader Was Interviewed On Tavis Smiley Feb 1, 2016
Tue Feb 9, 2016, 06:38 PM
Feb 2016

Here are some excerpts...

Nader: "I think the most important thing coming out of this is Bernie Sanders’s average contribution is between $27 and $30 per person, and he’s raising enormously more money than he or anyone else expected, including Hillary Clinton. She didn’t expect that. So that’s a very refreshing thing. He doesn’t go to fat cat parties in Beverly Hills or Park Avenue. He refuses."

Nader: "I think they’re looking for someone who’s on their side, someone who is going to challenge Wall Street’s control over Washington, someone who’s going to challenge these job-destroying trade agreements, someone who is going to change the tax system so they don’t pay more than they have to and the big rich and global corporations pay more."

Tavis: "What do you make of the fact that this year there seems to have been an accident, quite frankly, a collision on the establishment highway and that these outsiders are having the kind of impact they’re having this year?"

Nader: "I think that probably surprised everyone. I don’t think anybody thought Jeb Bush was going to be so low in the polls and maybe on his way out in another couple of weeks. But it does reflect the lack of respect that the voters have for those people who are running our government or running it into the ground or running it on behalf of Wall Street against Main Street.

You know, there’s a kind of grapevine that operates through millions of peoples’ minds and sometimes it coalesces into a kind of rejection of traditional politics. But the problem is, the outliers are pretty traditional too, except for the clean, honest, progressive campaign of Bernie Sanders..."

Tavis: "What should Bernie Sanders say as he continues to get asked whether or not he can win, whether or not his agenda is so liberal, so progressive, so socialist, that the American public won’t go for it?"

Nader: "Nonsense. Just poll it. He’ll get a lot of left-right support for a lot of things like full Medicare for all, like living wage. Conservative workers at Wal-Mart don’t want a living wage?

But when you hear Hillary Clinton talk about her experience and expertise in foreign affairs, that means more war, more empire. She’s a hawk.

When you hear her talk about how she’s going to be pragmatic at home, that’s another code word for allowing the concentration of power to continue in the hands of the few, Wall Street over Washington
, the same Wall Street that paid her $5,000 a minute to give speeches in closed-door conventions around the country, which she has refused to disclose.

What did she say to these closed-door conventions noted briefly in The New York Times a while back? What did she say in closed-door where there was no press and they were paying her $5,000 a minute? Why doesn’t the press ask that question? Disclose it, Hillary."

(Well, Chuck Todd finally asked that question.)

Many, many of us here, have waited along time for an election like this. Sanders is NOT the better of two evils. He's the real deal.

And the early returns from NH show Bernie with a 28% lead.

I can't wait until I finally have the chance to actually vote for Bernie.

I have a paper ballot here and you can be sure I will sign it.
