"All" the minorities do not live in your district, as you well know. That being said, I agree with you that it doesn't make sense for ANY district in our city (with the possible exception of the south side and Eagle River) to vote Republican. I have some hope with last year's election of Ethan Berkowitz as mayor.

I live in one of the most diverse areas and everybody knows that not all of the city is diverse, go to hillside or oceanview. Lived there. Sucked.

I think the entire state is waking up to the fact that we are broke and cannot rely on oil to save us. Even Republicans are talking taxes to me and thinking about a sakes tax, of course, because they refuse to consider a state income tax or ending the oil Subsidies. I think we are ready to make some inroads and my energy will be best spent on a local level, Imo.

I agree with your second paragraph 100%. To me income tax is definitely the way to go to try and capture some of the money that the Slopers take south with them every couple of weeks. Jay Hammond said the biggest mistake he made as governor was doing away with the income tax. Sales tax would be bad and disproportionately hurt those with lower incomes. And I definitely think they need to audit the oil companies because they've been cheating us for years. It's ridiculous that we pay more to them in subsidies than we get back in revenue.
