2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumAfter this debate all I can say
HRC is an excellent manager while
Bernie is a man of vision.
For myself I prefer the latter as a president,
but realize that then he needs the managers.
A manager as president is probably not willing
to listen to people with vision, but I could be wrong.
Kissinger was well as Churchill were not the
greatest choices at any rate.

(6,336 posts)I have always thought that great leaders develop, mentor and can follow (when appropriate) both leaders and managers. Great managers, in contrast, are often limited to developing, mentoring, and following other managers. Both are necessary but many times, at least in business, when you get the wrong type of person in the wrong job it can be a disaster.
POTUS is a leadership job. HRC is a manager.

(17,064 posts)What management skills has she shown? Everything I've heard is she was highly dependant on aides to organize and coach her in Senate and State. Plus, a presidential campaign is the biggest test of managerial skills, and she's royslly fucked up two of them.

(17,064 posts)Near as I can tell from reading, she had reasonable skills as a moderate-level corporate attorney. The stuff she did at Rose. I read somewhere she did terrible work on Watergate Committee work earlier, but can't find it again. She did ok as First Lady, but how hard is that? The only big job she tackled was Healthcare reform, and that got shot down immediately. She was undistinguished as a Senator, and Obama/Kerry still cleaning up her messes at State. Hell, Obama even ignored her Syria No-fly zone proposal, and said no to her plan to smuggle arms from Libya to Syria by the CIA. She's no Sarah Palin, but I haven't seen any evidence in her 'experience' that indicates she's got the leadership and management skills to be president. Basically, she has the same level of ability as W, without the buffoonery.

(12,685 posts)dismissive of Obama on occasions. The way she will say things gives me the impression that she does not think much of Obama.
The "Hillary will be the best prepared, most qualified President ever," is ludicrous based on her performance to date.

(65,159 posts)Bernie speaks from the heart while Hillary seems mechanical in her answers. Hillary supporters say Sanders talks about the same issues, but I think the repetitive one is Hillary using the same distortions. And Hillary trying be equal to or better than Bernie on progressive issues is just amusing.

that just won't work.
