"Liberals" are defending mass incarceration and "get tough on (black and brown) crime"

rather than holding Hillary accountable. Either that or trying to say racist dogwhistle terms spewed from the mouths of extreme racist rightists are not racist dogwhistle terms. People trying to say "Hillary was just talking about the crime problem in the 90s" when everyone knew what a politican meant when they talked about "tough on crime" and the unstated assumption that black and brown people are inherently more criminal than white people (not true) or that the social dysfunction that led to these issues in black communities didn't have their genesis in policies that she and Bill not only supported, but expanded on (here's a fun fact, black and white crime is pretty much equal once you control for joblessness, it's just that black communities are just more heavily policed, and were hit harder by American deindustrialization).

And don't make this about Bernie; even if he wasn't in the race I would trust *ANYONE* except Biden over Hillary on this issue.

this legislation and getting it through. Yes, in it contained the Violence Against Women Act, but still...

As much as I love Biden, this is the one thing that he did that pissed me off.

No...well...two things: the Anita Hill-Clarence Thomas hearings.

And I'm sorry, but neither candidates' hands are clean here. Neither one.

Regardless of principle or political nuance, both candidates supported the Omnibus Crime Bill.

Indeed most Democrats did, including the Congressional Black Caucus.

It is what it is. Just blaming the Clintons or the Sanders' teams gets us nowhere.

Everyone is ultimately responsible and everyone has to own their part in this.

Many Democrats are only opposed to heinous things (mass incarceration, ubiquitous surveillance, curtailment of civil rights, unnecessary wars, etc.) when those things can be used to besmirch a Republican President.

When those things are being done by a Democratic President, they somehow cease to be heinous and somehow become "regrettable, but necessary."

This is the mindset that drives Hillary supporters. Her past heinous acts can be forgiven because, and only because, she's a Democrat running for President.
