2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI have had not yet had a single Bernie supporter explain how a European-type socialist wins the GE.
America will not elect a European-type self-declared socialist, and that status alone would result in ENDLESS attacks that would CRUSH Sanders in a GE.
I like Bernie. He has a good heart and the right general goals. But this nation just won't elect a socialist for the Presidency (just as it won't elect a racist mega-unqualified carnival barker named Frankentrump).

(36,418 posts)Do you really think we hate socialism? Bernie is more of the things we really like about the federal government, only better.

(19,326 posts)Bernie (by now a VERY WELL KNOWN SOCIALIST) consistently runs much stronger
against the GOP than does Hillary Clinton.
You have not heard about this.

(14,255 posts)Hey, don't feel bad - I have asked many many times why it is okay for Debbie Wassermann-Schultz to support, campaign, and fund-raise for her GOP buddies down here - against Democrats - and I am told that I have to always vote for the "D".
Why is that??

corbettkroehler
(1,898 posts)He has yet to offer a rallying cry along the lines of "Yes We Can".
To your question, he has begun to sharpen his message. For example, last month, on national TV (the CNN candidates' town hall with Diaz-Balart), he was asked about socialism. He finally gave a cogent answer, linking it to Social Security.
Once he has the nomination, due to the nature of the attacks from the Right, he will adopt a laser focus, reminding people that in the USA, public colleges and universities USED TO offer free tuition. Joy Behar, cohost of The View, freely states that, when she enrolled in college, the tuition was $24.
