2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIs Bill Clinton losing it mentally?
Seeing the photos of Bill Clinton inside a polling place, violating the devil out of election laws, my first thought was Clinton crookedness.
But then I thought maybe Bill has developed Alzheimer's. Even the Clinton Times did an article about his erraticness a few months ago.
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/29/us/politics/bill-clinton-campaign.html
"he occasionally meandered, leaving the audience, including some who had lined up for hours to see him, seeming more politely attentive than inspired...
I have seen him speak many times, and he just didnt seem to be the same guy. He could still summon stats and an anecdote or two, but not with the same verve.
Nonetheless, charges should be brought.

(9,086 posts)It on video. It's been posting on DU. A normal human would be in trouble. He's above the law.
On DU: Bill Clinton was campaigning right near polling place entry. Video leaves no doubt.

(45,806 posts)There is NO law against visiting a polling place or talking to people there. he on;y thing prohibited is "campaigning" and Hr was NOT doing that.
greymouse
(872 posts)The spouse of a candidate shows up not only within the prohibited distance from a polling place for campaigning, but inside a polling place, in Sander's precincts, and causes up to a two hour delay in people getting to vote, but, hey, you think that's legal.

(45,806 posts)I agree with you, just Bill appearing at a polling place technically is campaigning just because of who he is, but under the law, it's just being friendly.
Cheese Sandwich
(9,086 posts)There is a law saying you cannot be within 1500 feet of a polling place unless you are voting.

(9,497 posts)that the people who feel the clintons are a little loose with the law, get upset about. This is reflected in her numbers on her trustworthiness.
It just adds one more stone in the basket of why I don't like them.
But I am not surprised he did this and I am not surprised that her supporters are willing to back him on this.
No...there are no surprises here.
GreatGazoo
(3,937 posts)then there is no such thing as campaigning.
Why not just let him go in the booth with people, help them flip the levers ? THAT isn't campaigning.

(9,497 posts)What was he doing? Really. What was he doing in MA at a polling station he CANNOT vote in?
What exactly was he doing there if not to campaign? Just seeing the sights?
He knew perfectly well that no poll worker would have told him to go away. I don't even like him and I'd have been intimidated just because he's Bill f'ing Clinton surrounded by the Secret Service and news cameras.

I am referencing a statement made by trump.
I am so glad there is very little to apologize for with Bernie. There is very little that stops me in my tracks and forces me to remove something ethical so I can continue to support him.

(872 posts)take your choice. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt by saying the latter may be the case. Even the nytimes "went there."
Geez, a first time volunteer knows about no campaigning within a distance of a polling place. And he shows up with an entourage at three. Okay, you tell me what you think was going on. Sound like a loose cannon to me.

(14,615 posts)I think Bill's antics yesterday were really stupid. Reeks of impropriety. They have both led such privileged lives that they don't understand how inappropriate their actions appear to the rest of us. Case in point, HRC's rude treatment of the young woman who approached her a few days ago.
But I don't think he's losing his faculties.
