Everyone will have a chance to vote in a primary event.

All of the primaries occur before the Democratic National Convention. It is only at that convention where a Democratic nominee is elected.

DU doesn't determine who the nominee. Voters do. The system is in place for selecting a Democratic nominee. It is being followed, and is currently underway. Only voting in primaries or caucuses will have any effect on the outcome.

If your state has not held a primary election or caucus event, you will still be able to vote in your state's process. Nothing is settled until the convention. While it may become clear at some point who the nominee will be, primary voting still continues.

I encourage everyone to show up and vote for your preferred Democratic candidate during your state's primary election or caucus.

Those events have nothing whatever with Democratic Underground. Nothing done or written here on DU has anything to do with how a nominee is chosen. Only the official primary process does.

So, please, go and vote!

I assume you're in California. That ballot is already set, and will not change. You'll find your preferred candidate there. If you'd prefer the California primary to be held earlier next time, communicate with your state legislators.

I lived in California for over 40 years. We always had late primaries. Sometimes our votes put one of them over the top. Could happen again this year. Go and vote!

9. Your state ballot has probably been printed already.

Many of the ballots still have O'Malley as an option.

3. Not true. Not everyone has a chance to vote.

If you live in a caucus state that does not have absentee voting thousands upon thousands of working people, differently-abled, elderly, etc. don't have a vote.

We need a new Voting Rights Act.

5. I don't disagree about caucuses.

I live in a caucus state. Legislation will be introduced in the MN state legislature to change to primaries. I support that legislation.

This year, though, we had caucuses. Bernie Sanders won. If we had voted in primaries, it might have gone the other way. Advantages and disadvantages exist for both methods.

come here to discuss. If DU does not like talking about the Primaries in forum dedicated to those Primaries what is the purpose of DU?

Apparently DU is without use and fully redundant.

Is this your message, and that of the Locking Hosts AND Skinner or just you hosts? 'No talking about politics on DU' is a fucking odd choice of rules.

8. If the nominee is decided before the last vote is cast

some won't bother to vote. They may or may not come back in November. Can any candidate afford to write off voters?

I have seen that done in local Democrat campaigns. They all lost and the Party lost.

11. The negativity and obvious favoritism of the Party is keeping turnout very low.

I think it's too late to do much about that. I blame the front runner and the Party apparatus for the spiraling disinterest in the Democratic Primary process.
