Related: About this forumHillary Clinton’s Libya problem just won’t go away
"Mission Accomplished"Hillary Clinton on her premature celebration victory tour in Libya. The country is now a terrorist hell hole where ISIS operates freely. Refugees are flooding to Europe, many dying on the way. And weapons are escaping to terrorists across Africa and the middle east.
Four questions Hillary Clinton needs to answer about Libya
1. Do you really want to be the worlds policeman? ...
2. Do you ever consider that your instinct to do something can be a liability?...
3. Why werent you more circumspect about smooth-talking émigrés pushing regime change?...
4. How are you going to prevent mission creep when the U.S. does intervene?...

Libya today is an ungovernable haven for the Islamic State. Still, candidate Clinton says its too soon to tell how things will turn out. It seems pretty clear to everyone else.

made such grave errors in judgment.

that's why she had nothing left but dirty tricks. And that's what her whole campaign has been.

Google "Berta Caceres" to see how yet another of her many fuckups as SoS is as current as today's news.

Problem is I'm not sure how much credit for Honduras Hillary can take.

(9,086 posts)9. One New Question You’ll Probably Hear At The Democratic Debate Tonight
As Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton prepares to take the stage for the next Democratic debate on Sunday night, she can be certain that shell be asked about one thing: Libya.
The New York Times recently published two pieces on the 2011 intervention in Libya and Hillary Clintons significant role in the U.S. decision to join NATO forces in bombing the country.
The Times report was based on interviews with over 50 Libyan, European, and U.S. officials, and many of those interviewed recalled Clintons enthusiasm for joining France and the UK in intervening in Libya in March 2011. According to the Times, Obama, who was reluctant about intervening in the Middle East, privately told then Secretary of Defense Robert Gates that the Libya decision was 51-49. Ive always thought that Hillarys support for the broader mission in Libya put the president on the 51 side of the line for a more aggressive approach, Gates, who opposed the intervention, told the Times.
Clinton, who was Secretary of State at the time and received congratulatory emails from advisers and former staff after the intervention in Libya, has since attempted to distance herself from its conclusion, but she may be forced to finally acknowledge her role in Sundays debate.
Today, Libya is lacking a central government that has control over the entire country, and ISIS is rapidly growing inside the country. But perhaps most striking is the disastrous humanitarian condition the country is now in.
